Whoa! I just started on season 1, and even though I think it's basically more painful that funny, that episode about the health care plan had me in fits of laughter.
Let's see how many episodes I manage to watch tonight!

The tone of the show changes so much after season 1! I love those first few episodes.

I think that's when they stopped using the script from the British Office. I'm not sure, though.

Only the first episode is the same (exact same script), but there are similarities after that, like some plots and scenes that were lifted and changed a little bit. Starting in season 2 it's all different.

There wasn't a new one this week but NBC has the last one up:

I spent the weekend watching most of Season 2. Man. I miss the old days of JAM.

I have a new theory on why I can watch an entire season in a day... I'm not creeped out by horror films any more, but when I watch The Office (especially when Michael is preparing to do something and I can already see it going terribly wrong for everyone concerned), I just sit there going "OMGOMG no!" and loving it although it's all so awful. So I guess this is my ersatz horror. Does that make any sense?

ETA: I love monsters, but awkward social situations (and choleric or sexist bosses) scare me.

Yeah there have been a few episodes that were painful to watch! The one where Michael goes to the school to tell the kids he can't keep his promise to pay their college tuition is one. I agree that the experience is kind of like watching a horror film.

Has anyone here seen the French, German, Israeli, Quebec, or Chilean versions of the show?

Awww, Dwight being (NOT) compassionate. WHAT.

Some funny parts, some weird parts.
Liked the whole Pam/Pam thing, and Nate with the un-plying.
I don't understand why Pam is not funny anymore?! Maybe she was never really that funny, but charming and cute. Now she's kinda...something else?

What the fork is up with this season? I was only amused by the measures Dwight had taken to cut costs!

I waited all that time to see what text would earn Andy a high five and it was pigeons eating ice cream?!? Lame. Should've at least been humping pigeons.

i think the problem with these new episodes is that they contain so much...silence. has anyone else noticed this? there is a complete lack of background noise, so it really feels like they are overacting. i think that steve carrell has been in too many other movies that his characters have affected the way he plays michael scott.

This Christmas episode was way better than last year's.
It still doesn't hold up to the earlier seasons, but it was definitely an improvement.

Pranked Jim was amazing. Ah-maz-ing.

As far as the Holly storyline, my favorite part is how Erin just can't see the attraction.

this was a solid episode. i laughed a lot, and i didn't hate the plot. i really liked it. it was a good episode. the ending was HILARIOUS! dwight is such a forking creep. i didn't understand why erin was acting so weird around holly...did she just not find her attractive? i know at the beginning she said "no, i'm waiting for my boss's pretty friend"....?

goooood episode, though!!
didn't like holly's haircut.

I just finished watching every forking episode, starting with S01E01. Believe me, the silence thing has always been there. I mentioned it to my BF at some point during season 1, and he'd never even much noticed it, but I did immediately. It's kind of strange, and I get the impression it makes everything feel much more artificial.

I <3 Erin bobbing for apples in the Halloween episode.

Yes! That was the best part. . . especially the Stanley wig.

I also loved Angela giving deodorant to Creed.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention the wig part. That was hilarious.

I think Erin just has a protective thing with Michael..you know her "father." So, I guess Holly just wasn't up to her standards, or maybe she was jealous or something.

yea that was my thought too. it was less of a "i don't get why he is into her" and more of a "i don't get how she is not into him". erin really looks up to him and cares about him (which blows my mind) and i think she just can't understand how anyone would not want to be with him.

My philosophy is basically this, and this is something that I live by, and I always have and I always will: don't, ever, for any reason, do anything to anyone for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been, ever, for any reason whatsoever
