Speaking of the Rangers, I don't think we have watched a hockey game in full since the Winter Classic. Just not into hockey this year for some reason.

not really hockey related, but yesterday all anyone here could talk about was Tim Thomas refusing to visit the White House. Who gives a shiitake if he doesn't want to visit Obama?
I do find it slightly badass, but I wish he had done it because he was uber left wing, and not conservative/libertarian/whatever.

Did you watch the HBO Road to the Winter Classic series? Man, we loved it so much. It actually gave me things to like about both the NYR and Flyers and that is a new phenomenon for me. Bryzgalov was hilarious.
Oops, I missed the new posts. Yay! Welcome back!
I kind of respect the Tim Thomas thing. Even though I am obviously wont to hate the Bruins and everything about them--and who knows what Thomas' real intent was--he has every right to respectfully decline the White House dinner. And he was classy about his statement, which I imagine came from some PR help, but still. Whatevs.

We watched all but the last episode. The hubbie was a little too wounded to watch the Flyers lose on the show. But it was awesome to see the camera angles that close up! And the cursing behind the scenes! And the crazy asparagus goalie for the Flyers, oh man. He's on another level.

Bryzgalov is AWESOME. The filming was great. The thing I was most surprised about was the ridiculous coaching in the dressing room. I must have imagined that coaches were so much more...I dunno...articulate? helpful? than that. My boyfriend played in the minors and even he was surprised.
If HBO did a version with the Canucks we would die of happiness.

I think the Flyers coach was a tad more encouraging than the Rangers, but not by much. They get UPSET!
I am wondering if they are going to do the super bowl at some point, or something for the Olympics. The show was cool, but it would be better if it lasted longer. I want to see the last episode, gonna have to find some time when the hubbie isn't around so I can watch it!

It's really not too depressing! We were somehow rooting for the Flyers (what! Who am I? I used to hate the Flyers with a passion!) and didn't find it too crushing. Though if it were covering the Bruins/Canucks cup run last year I'd have been too much of a sap to watch it, so I understand.
I hope they skip the superbowl and the London Olympics and just opt to do the NHL again. It was crazy watching it so close to the actual events.

OMG it was crazy! We watched a game on like a Monday and then it was on the show that week. It was nuts!
Hehe, the Flyers are a likeable organization to me! Come to the dark side!

I can't imagine how hard the HBO crew must have worked to bring those episodes out so quickly. We marathoned the whole thing a few weeks ago but even that was crazy--we couldn't believe the winter classic game had happened within a month of when we streamed the show.

24/7 was AWESOME. I fell in love with all of them. If the game had gone the other way and the Rangers lost I might have not been able to watch the last episode either.
The last 5 minutes of that game nearly gave me a heart attack.

I want a million more 24/7s.
How about that Chicago-Oilers game the other day? That was something.
As for the Canucks, we absolutely did not deserve that SO win yesterday (sorry Colorado! Except Giguere...you're a jerk) but I'll take it!

What the forking fork! We traded Hodgson to Buffalo. For Kassian. Which, whatever, he's huge and we need that, but Hodgson is a STAR. /pissed. And we're screwed if Kesler or Henrik get injured in the playoffs.

Hey guys! I just wanted to say I'm happy there are other hockey fans here. I'm a Hurricanes fan. Quiet on the trades, which is good. They still have Ruutu!

SOMEONE ELSE! Yay, I like not having to talk to myself.
I'm neutral on the Hurricanes, which means you won't get shit-talking from me. :)
So my insider info (my mum's boss is related to someone in the circle) says that Hodgson was arrogant and selfish and everyone is glad he's gone. So I guess I feel a bit better. Kassian seems like a good guy/strong winger. We got a gritty blue-liner too.
Playoffs are so soon!

Thanks for not talking shiitake about the 'Canes (I do enough of that on my own). They deserve it though, they're having a crappy season.
My cable company stopped carrying Versus/NBC sports so I won't be able to see the playoffs, except for the few games on the regular NBC. Unfortunately, the 'Canes are in the bottom of their division.

I cheered for them (half-heartedly) in 06 and 08. I really like Cam Ward! Sucks that they've had a bad few years.

I'm so glad the Rangers didn't go through with the Nash deal. Dubinsky knows how close he was to leaving and he's already started to prove himself since the deadline. Losing Del Zotto and McDonagh would have also been the end of their run to the cup.

They came out strong and we came out slow (classic Canucks). Why I'm not worried: LA can't usually score, and Luongo was the sharpest player on our team. Also, I'm superstitious and I think winning the first game is bad luck, even though statistics would show otherwise.

I hate my life.
I'm cheering for the Panthers. Because, why the fork not? They're awful, but at least they can win a playoff game unlike my President's Trophy-winning sad, sad Canucks.
