Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows starts in the US on November 19th. Is anyone else seriously excited about the movie? I am looking for it to be awesome and not awkward like the sixth movie. Any thoughts? Predictions? Reservations?

I wish they hadn't split it up, but I'm still super excited. My gryffindor scarf will get its semi-annual breath of fresh air when I go see it.

I'm a self proclaimed Ravenclaw, and I plan to sport my scarf and tie.

I haven't seen the movies since the fourth one, I think? I may have seen parts of the fifth one.

I work at a theatre so I'm really dreading this release, even though I normally love Harry Potter.

Were I actually at Hogwarts, I'd probably be a Ravenclaw - but I made a huge Gryffindor scarf when I wanted to learn how to knit, for a costume, and now this is the only other use it ever gets.

Looking forward to it! Though I won't be at the midnight release this time... Thursday night during busy season at work? I'm too old for that shiitake.

I'm excited for it even though the book was infinitely better just because there are no more books. This is all I have left!!

I save my maniacal ranting for the parking lot, of course.

As excited as I get about the movies, I always bisque about the parts they messed up. For the record, I like to think that the 6th movie never happened.

I am totally excited! 18 (my university's Harry Potter club...) of us are going to the midnight showing, each of us as a different person who died during the series. I'm going to be Colin Creevey!
Even though yes, the book is always better.

I dont really like any of the movies, thought five and six were a bit better. but seven! oooh I am excited! The previews give me chills. I reread HP probably 2-3 times a year since once I start I cant stop and finish each book in just a day or two.

WHAT ARE YOU bisques ON!?!? Seriously, and a good deal of the rest of the world. I've seen so many people complain about the 6th movie and I genuinely don't understand why.
The sixth movie was gyahmazing, it was my favorite by far. A) Gorgeous B) Didn't just show Harry but we got to see Draco & the Vanishing Cabinet and more of the the DEs and Snape. (Which is great, I know most of the books focus on Harry and though in 3rd person, kind of from his POV, but the 4th & 6th books open elsewhere, with the 6th being at Spinner's End, so we get information besides what Harry sees and knows.) C) The characters were so much more vivid and 3 dimensional. Etc...
It had it's crappy bits - I don't mind the fire at The Burrow - it didn't happen in the book but it's totally within the realm of possibility; yeah, a lot of Ginny & Harry, boo, but shrug worthy; Dumbledore's funeral/memorial was fine with me; Lavender was kind of... eh... but again, shrug worthy. Mostly what peas me off is the end. The DEs raid Hogwarts and then kind of just leave. That's super duper annoying. But that's it. Can people tell me what people so disliked about the 6th movie? Because I really don't understand. I feel like it was kind of, this is cheesy sounding, but the most sophisticated and legitimately good film of all the HP movies. I liked that one a lot. A LOT.
ETA: bisques meant in the most endearmenty term of endearment ever type of way.

I wouldn't say the sixth was terrible, but it made absolutely no impression on me. I went to see it with the same group of people I discuss the books for hours with, and at the end, all I said was "Well, that happened" and we went for food.
The only movie I really enjoyed was the third. That one was just a decent film, regardless of how different it was from the source material.

This is the most annoying as it took so much away from the book! Why change Dumbledore's death scene though??! Yes, Harry is idealistic and foolhardy but he is not a coward. In the book he fights against the spell Dumbledore cast on him but in the film he meekly stands by after Dumbledore looks at him and lets Dumbledore get killed, rubbish. Also, leaving the amazing funeral scene out is crepe. Also the Fenrir Greyback/Bill Weasley thing should have been in it, as it showed that it wasn't just fighting with Harry - it was happening to others in the magic world - danger to all etc etc. I think it would have driven the point home well. Although I guess I can deal without it.

I'm so psyched about this. Going to have to book my tickets soon. I'm mainly happy that they decided not to do it in 3D for now, even though they're clearly going to re-release it in 3D later for the money. I don't like all this 3D business.

I'm so super excited about it! I have been planning for months to go with a friend, we just need to fix the time.
And of course I agree, the books are infinitely better, but I must say that out of the movies, the sixth was not bad at all. Sure they changed things but I really liked how the acting evolved and the funny twists they added. What I wonder is how they are going to make clar in the seventh movie the whole thing of the wands. I mean it's kind of complex in the book itself, how will they explain it without making it too obvious?

I didn't love the sixth film either, though I might just watch it again just before seeing the next part. It's been a while since I read book 7, so maybe the fact that I've forgotten most of the details of the book will help me appreciate the film more? I'm just glad it's not coming out in 3D.
