If you have a kid(s) or interact with children often...

Kids of Carcassonne
Piece of Cake (good for all ages IMO as long as your kid(s) can count and do some simple addition)

Board game - Monopoly (although I can't play it because I'm a bit too competitive)
Card game - Spades.

There was also a crazy card game we played in college, I can't remember what it was called though and wasn't a traditional type game.

Let's talk more about board games! My friend watches Table Top and has so many of the games they review. Whenever we hang out we end up playing games (he and his wife own at least a hundred).

Right now I'm really into Forbidden Desert. It's so tough to win! I also like Dixit, Munchkin, and this Lego pictionary type game that I cant remember the name of.

We went on a kid's game kick many years ago....We bought a few. I love Guess Who & Connect 4 the most!

Oh, I love board games. We have a small group that plays on Friday nights (tonight!!!) and I go to a bi-weekly board game meetup sometimes. I have a redic amount of board games in my house.

My groups (as in the last year) favorites:

Zombicide and Pandemic (both cooperative games)
Dominion
Bang!
Coup
Power Grid
7 Wonders
Small World (the iPad version is excellent!)
Agricola

Settlers, carcaconne and Dominion are oldies but goodies. Especially the space version of settlers: Starfarers. And the card game version. good for travel.

Got to give a shout out to Cards Against Hummanity. Honestly, I am over it, but it is hilarious to play with people who have no idea what they are getting into.

I think 7 wonders is my favorite game, even though I am awful at it.

Rummy 500 is hands down my favorite classic card game.

I have a seven year old son, and I highly recommend Gamewright brand card games for kids around that age and their grown-ups -- especially popular in our house recently are Sleeping Queens and Zeus on the Loose. They are relatively quick games to play and some of them, like Zeus, have simple addition and subtraction that is woven into the game. If anyone else has recommendations for games that are fun for kids and adults I'd love to hear about them.
