Hey all!

I just got my wisdom teeth removed a few hours ago, and my face is pretty numb, still. Especially my lips. I can't feel my bottom lip at all. I have also been wanting a vertical labret piercing for a while. Would getting this piercing today be a totally smart and pain-free decision, or would it be a terrible and damaging experience?

I know we have a piercing artist on here somewhere, is it Jojo?

PS: I have no swelling on my lip, so it shouldn't affect the placement.
PPS: Anyone have a fave wisdom teeth removal meal?

i would venture that your lip feeling may come back any minute now, forget about how long it takes to get to the piercer.

(i wouldn't suggest my favorite meal, which was beer, but i would suggest icing your face as much as possible. frozen banana shakes worked for me too.)

ps yay for bouncing back with a piercing! sounds like you did just fine, hope you heal up fast.

I have a feeling that the anesthesia would affect your blood's ability to coagulate, among other things. Anyway the numbness will wear off soon enough (probably before you get to the piercer, as torque pointed out), and then you'll just have to deal with the pain of the healing piercing. If you really want the piercing you'll put up with the pain.

Getting pierced itself doesn't hurt very much, except through cartilage. Most of the pain comes during the first few days of healing. So no, I don't think there's a need to rush out and get it done.

Yeah, I'm not actually that worried about the pain, I was just thinking it was convenient. I've had a labret before, but my lip is still super numb.

That's a good point about coagulating. I do have a medication that increases the amount of bleeding I experience, so maybe I should just wait and stay home and recover.

I might be too late but I would suggest not getting it done whilst your body is trying to heal and recover from getting your wisdom teeth taken out! I'd wait a week or so.

I had an impacted wisdom tooth out last year and my favourite things to eat were very soft bread, juice, smoothies & yogurt. I remember being super sad that eating ice cream actually really hurt!

Not too late! I haven't done it, I think I'll wait until I'm back in st. Louis and do it then. Do we have a piercing thread for showing off piercings? Or does that also happen on the tattoo thread?

Thanks for all the advice, guys!
