could be because this tattoo is super itchy and was so sore.....

Oh man, the bright moss green used on my Velveteen Rabbit tattoo took FOREVER to heal. But it did. When I asked others they said it was because it's vegan ink, but I don't think I buy that. I hope you heal quickly!

i have over a dozen tattoos - all vegan ink so - maybe it is just this brand? maybe it is the red? maybe i did not shave my legs for 2 months (cuz i don't really both/care at times!) and shaved & have really sensitive skin in that area...i have a handful of tattoos in that area and again this one is the one that is icky. i do not want the color to pull!

Red ink is always way worse on me. When I got my strawberry one done, it peeled like crazy and took way longer to heal than usual. It's fine now, though.

Yeah I've had issues with a green and a purple taking foreeeever to heal. No real explanation I can find for it but I remember the huge scabs and being itchy for ages was super annoying!

I took the plunge and contacted a tattoo artist I know to start talking about my tattoo of my dog. I was doodling a drawing of her while on the phone the other day and it turned out to look exactly like her while still looking stylized and made me want to turn it into a tattoo immediately. She would need to be surrounded by violets, obv (her name is Violet).

I hope he's got vegan ink.

I love this!!! As someone who's got three dog tattoos and counting, I fully throw my weight behind this idea. I've only had my latest gal a month and I already have a good idea of what her tattoo will be (definitely with a peacock feather).

Hollie that sounds awesome!

b.vicious I can't wait to see!!

I think I finally thought of something I would A. like and B. would cover an awful 15 year old tattoo I have with a lot of black - some sort of crow design! Now I need to think about it more and figure out exactly how I want it to look.

Thanks, Erika! I got this one done by Glennie at Pearl Harbor Gift Shop in Toronto, Canada and she does most of my work. She's so talented, and having been vegan herself she is very proactive about making sure inks are vegan. Lovelovelove her.

Toronto is definitely on my list of places I want to visit. And there's no better way to memorialize a vacation than a tattoo! I'll have to keep this place on my list.

Well, wee bit time no see, tattoo thread!

I have a question for y'all (it's about tattoos. I hope that's ok)

Have any of yous gotten a tattoo then had to get it touched up by someone who didn't do the original work? Just a wee touch-up, not a cover-up. See, I got a tattoo when on my holibags last month (I mean, not randomly in a hut by the seaside on a drunken whim- it was planned!) but lost a couple wee bits because that always happens with me. Because I am a rubbish healer or whatever. I have no way of getting back to the original artist for what would only be a few minutes work though... How does one ordinarily deal with this when approaching local artists? Do you think it would be expected to pay for an hour's work? Would I need to get all the info from the original artist about inks used etc.? I really have no idea and I am scared of coming across like an eejit when approaching local shops as I am intimidated quite easily when holding no info! Any advice appreciated!

It would definitely be okay to ask a local artist to touch up work done by someone else if there's a reason you can't get back to them. They may well charge for a full hour though just because a lot of shops have an hours work as the minimum to allow for things like the razor, cling film, ink pots, needles etc used in making even the tinyest of tattoos. It would probably help to know the brand of ink if the touch up will be colour so that you can pick an artist / studio that will match it exactly. If it's just black I wouldn't worry so much.
