Yeah, she's going to be in full color and the frame is going to be gray.

Edit: How much does weight gain and loss, and muscle gain and loss really affect the tattoo? Does it have to be a dramatic change for it to screw it up? Kinda late coming to this: I did have weight gain affect my tattoo, but that's because it's on a spot (my hip) where the skin is susceptible to stretch marks. So if you're getting it on your upper thighs (where some people do get stretch marks) that might be something to keep in mind. Lower down, I think should be ok.

I will attest that paprikapapaya's diamond is a beautifully brilliant shade of turquoise, and wasn't at all bloody when I saw it the next day. It's lovely!
I need to learn to stay out of this thread. It gives me a mad tattoo itch every time.

My tattoo! My mom is Taino, so it's the Taino symbol for the coqui. Of the around 16 species of the coqui, 11 of them can't survive anywhere except Puerto Rico. If they are taken somewhere else, they stop singing and die. My mom loved to talk about the coqui growing up, so it was a really important and large part of my childhood. It's on my ribs and looks kind of big here, but it's smaller (though bigger than I was originally planning). I'm a bit worried about how it's healing. It's a lot less vibrant, I think. I hope that's just part of the healing process. I already have my next tattoo appointment, a memorial tattoo for my grandmother.

Niev, I love the tattoo and the story!
Jojo, I can't believe that's hand-poked! Super impressive. I had behind my ears tattooed a couple of months ago and it was so loud and weird, at least you got out of that part!

Thanks dudes!
Erinnerung, loud & weird doesn't sound good - I might have to get the other side hand poked too just to avoid that!

Thanks, guys! I actually got a new tattoo, with a new artist that I'm totally in love with. He was so great and basically gave me exactly what I wanted. When I'm back in St. Louis for a school, I'll be (finally, I had to cancel because of finals) meeting with another artist about my grandmother's memorial tattoo. Peeling lightly on this one, I think. I am so in love with this tattoo, and it means the world to me. I just thought I'd share. If anyone is ever in Miami (because it's a popular tourist city), you should totally go to Green Machine Tattoos. They got best tattoo shop in 2011, and the art is wonderful. Vegan ink, obviously. And the prices are wonderful. My small coqui tattoo cost me $120 at my first shop. This fairly large heart piece cost $150, and he did a great job. Also, I think he was more skilled. I feel like I wasn't even in there for very long, and the shading is really great.

Thanks, baps!
Louzilla, I actually got my coqui done in Miami, as well. I seem to be in the habit of getting piercings and tattoos while I'm home on break. My university is a short walk from Iron Age, though. How was it? Most of my friends go to Enigma, a few streets down, because it's cheaper (which seems like a pretty bad idea, my friends should probably be doing more research on shops). I've heard Iron Age is great, but their "bedside manner" leaves a lot to be desired. Have you posted a picture yet?

Well, here's a shitty nighttime webcam photo of it: Harry Potter chapter stars, green for Slytherin. I thought Iron Age was a tad pricey ($150 for this little guy, which is the same price as the chicken feet all down my back) and can't speak for all the artists but mine (Kerry) definitely didn't have a good attitude. I almost left because of it. Her demeanor made me feel like I was wasting her time; she didn't have the patience to hear me through and understand exactly what I wanted. I pinned it to the fact that I went for a walk-in, though, so it's not like I had a set appointment or anything.
