I do not like bananas, so I'm forced to vote "You are old."

since there was no option for the Bonzo Dog Band or Nilsson, I chose the Rutles.

Personally, I'm a purist who prefers the old school Rutles, before they got huge and sold out.

Rutles all the way! If FootFace is old, then I am too, which is not logical. Therefore, we are young and hip. Yes.

Thanks. You've reminded me that I've only heard of and still not actually seen/heard any Rutles. I'll fix that, but I'm pre-emptively voting for the Beatles because I really do like them.

I should add that I like the Beatles but I haven't heard the Rutles so I feel I can't fairly participate in any comparison survey between the two. So 'nanas it is.

I feel like this is some inside joke that I missed out on, so I voted Beatles.

For the uninitiated:

The Rutles, which included Eric Idle, first reached a big audience in the 1978 mockumentary All You Need is Cash, a parody of the Beatles' rise to stardom. The TV movie featured cameos by Mick Jagger, George Harrison, and plenty of then-current SNL stars. The show was hilarious (it was a precursor to This is Spinal Tap), but the music—while mimicking Beatles tunes—was for the most part totally deadpan. In many cases, Rutles songs are just as good as the Beatles songs they parody.

I saw the show when it aired and was instantly taken with it. I had a hell of a time trying to explain it to the two kids who lived across the street. They had been adopted from Vietnam not long before and didn't know what in the world to make of anything I was trying to tell them. (The Beatles? Huh?!)

Here's a link to the soundtrack for All You Need is Cash. This was one of my favorite records.

So...it's like a joke but not? They actually make music?

Yes! It was (is?) a very elaborate joke, complete with great music!
