I'm just kidding, of course talk about The Stanley Parable! Because it's supposed to be forking great! But I don't know anything about it and that's probably the best way to play it (so I'm told) so I have to restrain myself from reading anything about it.

NO DISCUSSING INDEED. except to say the free mod was awesome. I imagine the full thing to also be awesome.

The fact that no-one talks about the stanley parable is the one thing that's putting me off it a little - does that mean that there's a big reveal and once that's done there's not much to the game?

bits of both. and that it's hard to really explain and do it justice.

I think it's one of my favourite games in a while though, if only because it's so different in its general approach and creativity. it's no AAA title, but that's not the point of it.

Try the demo. If that sort of thing appeals to you, the game will also appeal.

Ok, I enjoyed the demo, perhaps because it was only 20 minutes or so long, but the game was a disappointment.
And I don't really see why everybody is so reluctant to talk about it. The demo and preview videos - let alone the first two or three minutes of actual gameplay - tell you pretty much everything. I expected the game to be more surprising.

It makes me feel mean to say it, but it doesn't feel worth £10, when it uses the source engine, lots of HL assets, has fairly simple level design, few new models, etc..

Perhaps I'm just not very good at the game (need more work on my rocket jumping). Or maybe I'll go back to it tomorrow, trek through to another choice and it will open out into a new vista of enlightenment.

There are about 15 endings that I know of, some of which require actually restarting multiple times.

There's a LOT of content in there.

I've seen at least half those endings in an hour's play. There's one obvious path I haven't gone yet (ON rather than OFF).

Did you unplug a phone?

Did you go out a window?

Did you find some disco?

Did you find an escape pod?

Did you follow The Adventure Line(tm)?

Did you provide input and immediately restart the game five times?

Did you find a museum?

Three of those.
I forgot I haven't tried answering the phone, so that's another path for me (although I'll have to remember how I got there in the first place, which sounds irritating).

Getting to the phone is pretty fast. Just do whatever he says not to do.

So I acquired Euro Truck Simulator 2 when it was on sale the other day, and I am really digging it.

Hey, Skullgirls is having a free weekend and sale! I got this on PS3 a few months ago. It was made by fighting game enthusiasts, so it's not exactly the most accessible fighter but it comes with the best fighting game tutorial I've ever played. The game is rather difficult (geared towards competitive play) but the tutorial is more or less a brief overview of high level gameplay. It's more than just "here are the controls", it gets into defensive stances, poke and punish, cancels, and other stuff I can't remember. I'd give it a spin just for the tutorial alone. But bring a controller, I think that game would be pretty much impossible on keyboard.

Desktop Dungeons just actually shipped! It's on Steam, it's not expensive, and it's a really interestingly challenging concept.

Redshirts also just came out, and while I like the concept I'm not yet sure if it's any good since I haven't played it yet.

I don't know anything about Redshirts besides Anthony Burch worked on it, which makes me somewhat interested.

Oh and has anyone been keeping up on the Humble Bundle store? Humble Bundle has a storefront now. A lot of indie games have been selling through Humble Bundle, but up until this week, there was no official storefront. Now there is, and they're having a rather large sale to celebrate! The games are not pay-what-you-want, but the split is 75% devs, 10% charity, 15% Humble tip, so there's still the charity piece. Most games come with a Steam copy.

Today, they've got Gone Home for $10, and Dear Esther for $2, among others.

I've settled on a new build, but I'm avoiding dropping the cash on it right now, so I'm F5ing pcpartpicker every couple hours to see if anything's gone on sale yet.

Oh hey, just in time for the autumn sale, reviews! I'm definitely going to set some of my better recommendations to public, and probably copy over some stuff from my blog and other places where I've written reviews.

Not steam but figured I'd share some of my experience this weekend with Elder scrolls online. Well not that there was much. It is expected to be released early next year and well all I say is they better boogie. The beta weekend was for up to level 17 and it was the first time a specific faction? Not sure what they call it was available. I won't get into too many specifics other than I was disappointed one of my favorite classes felt unsatisfying. I decided to try out another favorite of mine and it was alright based on fighting mechanics but overall the game felt boring. I didn't play as long as I planned because really there were a million things more fun than that game like watching water boil.

It is weird though, it seems like they don't have a full time beta user base? I'd expect a game less than 6 months from release would have full time beta users.

I'm not too excited about ESO because I don't generally get excited for MMOs, but I haven't read many good things about it. I don't have any friends who are into Elder Scrolls games so I'd just be playing it solo anyway.

How many cliff racers were there? Is the combat closer to Oblivion/Skyrim or Morrowind and below?
