Goat Simulator is back on sale, and now it's available for Mac and Linux!

Also, Wolfenstein. I'm like two hours in but it's pushing all the right buttons for me.

I'm going to spoiler what I was convinced happened in Gone Home while I was playing, so those who haven't played it yet don't know it's not a possibility.

Spoiler: show
As soon as I realized the attic was locked and her sister wasn't making friends I was like, "So her sister killed herself in the attic." And that didn't go away until I actually went up there, although after awhile I wondered if her girlfriend was up there. So I was really REALLY relieved to not find any bodies.

Yes! They hint pretty heavily that something really awful has happened-- there's a part toward the end where there's a journal or something that says something like "We're going to do it tonight, in the secret room. It's the only thing to do" and I was SURE they'd gone up there for some kind of suicide pact or something and I'd been wandering around the house with their bodies lying somewhere nearby... But then it was just an exorcism before they ran off together and it was a huge relief.

Ohhhhh no. You can see how much you spent on this sale very easily. Go to your Badges page, find the summer sale cards, and click on "How do I earn card drops?"

I am enjoying Wolfenstein MUCH more than I expected. It's decently deep, has the option of stealth vs. shootin' in most places (and even encourages stealth a bit), has a decent story (for the first 2 hours or so anyway), some fun cutscene-type things (an especially tense thing on a train for example), and the shooty bits are enjoyably meaty. Plus I enjoy the lack of moral grey area involved in just shooting Nazis and Nazi robot dogs and more Nazis.

Unless it gets stupid or boring as it goes on, I'm gonna recommend it. I'll check in later...

Okay, I just busted the dudes out of prison. Give me a day or two to finish it up and we can compare notes.

Is anyone up for L4D2 tomorrow? Unless you're like, going out to socialize or something.

Humble Bundle Store is having an end-of-summer sale, and giving away Receiver today!

https://www.humblebundle.com/store

Receiver's hella weird! It's a product of a game jam that was designed to make the act of reloading more than just mashing the 'R' button. You have to fiddle with magazines, how many bullets are in the magazine, whether or not you've got a round chambered or not, safety on or off, etc. And there are tapes! You have to find them, and they're full of cyberpunk nonsense! The game is rough as hell, since it appears not much work went into it post-game jam but it's surprising full of neat detail.

Oh, and here's something they don't make totally obvious. You might wonder how you're supposed to put bullets into your magazine. You have to holster your weapon first. Because it's hard to put bullets in a magazine with a pistol in one hand and a magazine in the other; no free hand.

Oh cool. I liked the look of that, but not quite enough to pay for it. Thanks for reminding me.

sooo... apparently steam is getting Canadian currency which I think also means taxes which is sad. It is unclear from the e-mail I received if they will be switching to Canadian or simply using regional currency for us northerners from now on.

Since everything is so U.S.-centric, regional pricing is one of those problems that I've never had to deal with, but I empathize. I know fair regional pricing is one of the big things that GOG gets right, but only because other people tell me so.

Yah, the e-mail wasn't clear exactly what this will mean for sale, exchange rates, taxes etc etc just that the money currently in my account will use whatever the exchange rate is on x date and change it all to canadian (which at the moment is a bit sad). Time will tell I guess, but not having taxes etc and the one shot exchange made knowing how much you were spending way easier to calculate in sale frenzy.

I have four copies of Risk of Rain to give away. Someone please take them from me.

Or, if you want your own four copies of Risk of Rain, get the latest humble bundle. But please, take my Risk of Rain.

Oh and I'll post here because my husband was so happy to get the code. I gave him the code to add to his account so he doesn't have to log into mine. The little things make him happy.

Awesome! Risk of Rain is rather good, if you're into action platforming. Since the difficulty increases over time, it can get really hectic towards the end. And I love the soundtrack. Hope he enjoys it!

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is kind of great. I mean, it felt pretty dumb at first. Then I realized that cars were driving like (law abiding) other drivers. And turn signals, headlights, windshield wipers all worked. And I've started turning off the unrealistic aids, like having my right sideview mirror and GPS closeup always on screen. I don't have a wheel, so I switched from keyboard turning to mouse turning for some real smooth turns. I just made a trip from Belgium to England, with boat crossing. When I got to England, there was an almost discrete sign reminding me to drive on the left side of the road. My truck (which I just bought, so now I own a truck) has a US standard left-side driver's seat, so it's as weird as you'd expect. I'm going to end up going back to mainland EU until I can afford a UK style truck to keep in England.

Since I'm driving my own truck now, I actually have to worry about things like fuel, rest, and driving to where the cargo is. You can do one-off freelance routes and those things aren't really a problem. They don't pay as well, but you can drive a lot of different trucks. I've got a half million Euro credit limit, and I'm half tempted to max it out to get another garage and truck and hire a second driver. Since it's a truck simulator, I don't think the local economy will be bad enough that I'll be struggling for jobs so cash will always be coming in. I can't see a reason not to put that money to work.

I signed up at worldoftrucks.com so I could get free metallic paint job DLC.
