I wish the store would stop crashing, but I guess that's to be expected with sales. There seems to be a lot of stuff going on sale all at once, making me unsure what to get.

Not steam related but I've been back to playing Allegiance, a now free space shooter/strategy online only game. Insane learning curve but a ton of fun, but the only decent sized games (more than 10 total people anywhere playing) are sunday afternoons.

I just bought Spec Ops: The Line, which is new enough that I don't think it'll be on sale. It's sort of inspired by Heart Of Darkness and all the reviews I've read say that it does a pretty good job of telling you, as a game, to shoot a lot of dudes, and then making you consider the aftermath and consequences thereof. That seems worth trying out.
Otherwise, I may pick up Max Payne 3 later today, but maybe not. Indie Bundle II looks cool and I don't already have everything in it. I might try apparently-flawed "From Dust" for 4 bucks. And if the Witcher games get/stay cheap, I'll pick them up just 'cause.

I think today's big winner is 40K: Space Marine. It's a third-person shooter, and you play as a space marine. My favorite description of this game is "a million orks, no cover system. Just plod forward and shoot" which is true. You can duck and dodge if you have to, but you feel like you're playing a super heavy space marine the whole time.
I feel it necessary to warn people off of Anno 2070 and From Dust. Anno 2070 contains some onerous DRM, and From Dust did when it was released and I cannot confirm for myself that it is not there anymore. I'm sure they're great. I'll wait till they hit GOG.
If you love freedom, you'll vote for Metro 2033 for the next community sale. And then you'll buy it because Metro 2033 is forking amazing.

Yeah but FEAR 3 is awful. I can understand wanting to play it, if you've beaten the last two, but it's not good.

Alan Wake two-fer for $10. BUY THIS GAME! Honestly, the combat gets a bit repetitive, but the story and set pieces will keep you playing. American Nightmare changes the combat a bit, and it's absolutely worth playing if you've ever been into The Twilight Zone. It's all on 12 hour flash deal, so jump on it!

I bought the Crusader Kings 2 collection on Chiatroll's recommendation. It's not really my type of game but he's put so much time into it, it's got to be worth trying out. I'd love to sink more time into Shogun 2 but the long load times really kill it for me, so I'm hoping I can get my strategy fix with CK2.

Yeah, you pretty much covered it. BORDERLANDS!!! But if that's as cheap as Skyrim is getting, I might continue to wait.
And what the fork is Two Worlds: Velvet Edition? Velvet? Really?

You know what? I'm voting LA Noire. I passed on it when it was on sale a couple weeks ago. I might snag it this time.

I'm glad you mentioned that. Witcher 1 and 2 were on my "if they go on sale" list and I kind of missed noticing it was there...

I had been wanting a couple items in the Indie pack 2 (we own the items in Indie Pack 3 already) so I picked that up. Also picked up a few other games as well.

I don't know if I should commit to the full Civilization pack when I own all of Civ 4, don't necessarily want Civ 3, and am not enough of a fan to really need all of the Civ 5 DLCs, but I think I'll snag the base game for $7.50.
Can I say that I kind of like that the flash deals are not on the same schedule or lifespan? It's got me constantly checking the store page, which gets me excited about video games, and gives me something to post about. I'm only concerned that I might miss one while I'm at work this week, but I've got a smartphone now so I can check on it when I get a break.

I got Tropico and Civ, so I'm happy. I almost gave up though, because their stupid verification characters took me way over ten tries. That is the worst one I've ever come across before.
It looks like I'll get the older Civ for Mac too, which would be great.
Civ III is still the best! I beta tested for the base game and Conquests, so my name is in the full credits. It was an awesome, fun team.

I picked up the complete painkiller collection, looked neat for 7$. I say everyone vote for Grimrock, because I chickened out of getting it earlier and am now holding out to see it go on sale.
I also feel L.A. Noire is in on flash so everyone should get it.

The original Painkiller game is pretty fantastic. I haven't heard good things about the others, but the original was great. Here's a thing about it: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... Painkiller

Yes, for sure, the original Painkiller is a lot of fun! The subsequent sequels and spin-offs, however, are largely amateur efforts that aren't a lot of fun.
I missed out on the Civ collection. I waited too long, but I'm pretty confident it'll be back as a daily sale or another flash sale.
Everyone should vote for Bastion for the next community sale! All three of those games are great, but Bastion is truly amazing. Terraria is a lot of fun, but the developer has stopped updating it for whatever new game they're working on and the community for Terraria has largely moved on. Dungeon Defenders is a ton of fun, but it's really meant for coop play. The single player is kind of boring and definitely too difficult once you get to a certain point.
I'm really torn on the Batman collection. I forking loved Arkham Asylum and Arkham City when I played them on Xbox, but I loathe Games for Windows Live, which both of them are saddled with. I can't even comprehend why Arkham City has GFWL when the achievements are on Steam. Gotham City Impostors is fun but not a deal-maker, and also crippled by GFWL if I'm not mistaken. ARGH

I've been debating Arkham. But the Boy and roommate both insist it's better on console and have both offered to lend me it.
I agree vote for Bastion! Because I somehow haven't bought it yet!
