You know, I think the very worst aspect of Krissy on this show is her fear, and how that's covered up with such gross attitude to other people. Being inexperienced and 'not liking' (yet, never having cooked) Chinese food (WHAT?! It's 2013 and she lives in Philly?!?!), honestly, Brie would probably still be there if she just kicked Krissy off her station during that restaurant challenge.
The point of being on a cooking show is to challenge yourself! She could have admitted her inexperience, gotten over it, and paid attention and learned how to freaking stir fry. I think she only realizes the 'they'll recognize my greatness' part. Ugh. It disgusts me how many elimination challenges seem tailored to her. They obviously had a day to decide on calimari, knowing full well she's likely eaten it.

I know I am late to the game. I just found this on hulu and have powered through the episodes.

Krissy really irks me. Not only because of her terrible attitude. But because I am not seeing her bring much variety. I feel like the whole competition has been created to let her skate to the final three or something.

also how do you make a blanket "i hate Asian food" statement when there is many and various types of Asian food.
shouldnt a MasterChef be open to trying new things and knowing about different cuisines? but she seems to think all Asian food is Chinese food?

She probably is intentionally being kept on for the drama and ratings. UGH. So mad that Brie went home before her.

The fact that she is so close to the end-- and only 4 more people need to mess up worse than her to make her win-- is horrifying.

And how do you even claim to have any semblance of a chef's palate if you hate all Asian food? Does she have any idea how many countries there are in Asia, and how many varied styles of cooking there are in each of those countries? No? Seriously, you just want to make marinara sauce for the rest of your career and call yourself a chef?

Ugh. We alternate between MC US and MC Australia these days and the latter is SO MUCH BETTER.

Masterchef Australia is seriously SO. MUCH. BETTER. I love seeing a competition show where the contestants seem to truly care about each other. Like, they all want to win of course, but they aren't trying to step all over each other for it. Oh, and the judges are nicer and more supportive. Oh, and Masterchef Australia is on like 5x a week, which is more up to my speed.

Every week that Krissi remains in this competition gets me more and more stressed out.

But it's also just really perplexing. Not only because she doesn't seem to be that great of a cook (there have just been many better cooks who had worse days than her during elimination challenges)... but also because the MasterChef title is all about selling a product (a cookbook, a brand, etc.), and I just don't see viewers rushing out to support her that way. I think people would be excited to buy a cookbook written by Luca or Jessie because they are good cooks but also seem like genuine nice people. But Krissi? No.

Yeah, I agree. She's obviously around for ratings and nothing else. I can't stand it. Get rid of her!

OMG WHY THE fork IS KRISSI STILL THERE!!!!!

the whole first half of the show when they did the Vietnamese noodle soup they totally gave her a pity pass. what the fizzle!!! they were like "oh that was a good try!"
WAT!!!!

im getting so angry at the show!!!

i honestly dont even think she's there for ratings because i dont think people tune in to see her it's not like she creates some great controversy she's just a bully.
i agree that i dont think anyone would race out to buy her cookbook. i cant imagine she would ever win so they need to just get rid of her.
she's not even taht cook a cook. she can bake and cook Italian food.
woo.

I can see her being kept around for the drama factor at first. But these shows usually end the drama-hook towards the end and get down to business with the people who actually deserve to be there. That's why I don't get it. It's too late in the season for them to have her there for that.

One thing that occurred to me about Krissi is that, rude and one-dimensional cook that she is, she is the only one there who is not a "foodie". She doesn't know a lot about different regions' foods and doesn't know much about fancy ingredients, unlike the other contestants, and maybe they want her there to try to appeal to viewers like her. Or the chefs see her as a challenge to teach new tricks to.

I was thinking the same thing - that they might be keeping her around to appeal to viewers like her. As in viewers who aren't familiar with multiple cuisines, &c, not as in viewers who are total jerks.

Like, I don't feel like I'm a super duper foodie food fooderson or anything, but I get surprised by things like the fact that my own mother, who is probably more indicative of the way more Americans cook and eat than I am, didn't even try eating any Indian food at all until like last year, whereas I've been cooking various kinds of Indian food for a while now. That's a terrible run-on sentence but Krissi makes me throw grammar to the wind!

Okay, I actually posted above while still watching the latest episode on hulu and she is throwing sauce at and cursing at other competitors during her pressure test, are you kidding me.

I don't even know why the sauce-throwing is upsetting me so much but it is.
