Anyone else watching this? I just heard about it now. Pretty stoked to have an American sitcom that can help me practice my Swedish!

Have you watched any of it yet? Curious to know what others think. I saw on hulu a pic with Will Ferrel in it, who I love, so I tried watching the show. I... had to turn it off about 10 minutes in, the acting by the lead character and his wife was soooo terrible and confusing. Confusing in such a way that I feel like I might be missing out on some joke? Like, ooh yeah we were acting like that on purpose, lol jk! ?

Well, it's Amy Poehler, but I hate sitcoms, so... I'm torn.

I watched Episode 2 but not Episode 1 yet. I definitely wasn't rolling on the floor laughing, but there were a few things that made me snort.

I think the challenge with this show, as with almost any Scandinavian humor, is that it's more a commentary on the minute quirks of the local society/mindset than fall-down slapstick or the very British tradition of extreme awkwardness and/or social humiliation. I mean, I gasped out loud in shock when Greg turned down his mother-in-law's kanelbullar. But that's not something many other people would get, so in this sense, Scandic humor as whole fails, hard. I'll admit that I 'get' most of the humor, but because it's so hard to 'get', it's not very successful.

i watched episode 1, but episode 2 is still waiting on the DVR. i liked it okay, but i always give pilot episodes a pass because i feel like they're pretty difficult to do. right now, i'm mostly there for the poehler name.
