Talk about the best music releases of 2013 here!
I hate to say it, but I'm really digging the 20/20 Experience. I wasn't even going to buy it, but then they promoted the crepe out of it, so I decided to listen to the free stream on itunes. And then I bought it the day it came out. And I can't stop listening to it. I LOVE Mirrors, and I also love Pusher Love Girl.

I love me some JT. Not even sorry.
I haven't listened to the album yet, though.

im completely obsessed with a local New England artist called Lady Lamb the Beekeeper. she's originally from Portland ME and has played in Boston a lot. i think she lives in Brooklyn now. she just released her first "official" album but has a few other albums that i guess are mainly bedroom demo recordings. i highly highly highly HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the new album Ripely Pine and also the one that came before that called Mammoth Swoon http://www.ladylambthebeekeeper.com/#!__homealso at some point later this year (no clue when) Throwing Muses is supposed to be releasing a new double album of like 30 songs. i guess maybe this summer? i will pee myself with glee on the day that comes out.

Well, a new Bowie album came out this year so naturally that's at the top for me right now.

Geez, yeah. It's already a pretty great year for music.
"M B V", the new My Bloody Valentine record is no Loveless, but it was never going to be. Saying "It's not Loveless" is like saying, "Well, it's a pretty nice ceiling painting, but it's no Sistine Chapel." It's a pretty great album.
The new Bowie album is a new Bowie album. It's also pretty good.
Ulrich Schnauss released a new album, "A Long Way To Fall", and if you like electronic shoegaze, that's what this is. He seems to be referring to older electronica, too-- back to Jean Michel Jarre and that vintage of synth noodler-- in both timbre and structure.
Pieter Nooten (ex Clan of Xymox) has a new record coming out in a month or so. I'm looking forward to that.
The Pet Shop Boys have decided to leave their old label and are releasing a new record in June.

The new Frightened Rabbit and Thao/Get Down Stay Down Albums are both great. There's a new Billy Bragg album that I've heard is good but haven't bought yet.
Later this year, The National, Hem, and John Vanderslice are all releasing new albums that I'm excited about. Vanderslice is also releasing an full album cover of Bowie's Diamond Dogs. Shearwater, whose album Animal Joy was one of my favorites last year, is starting work on a follow up to that, but I'm not sure that it will be released this year. I'm still looking forward to it, though.

There's this band that I quite like but don't like to talk about ever. 10 years it's been. Not that I've been counting. I try not to mention them if I can help it.
I think they're called... Suede? Or something like that, anyway.
Yeah, I'm unlikely to be bothered about much else now for the rest of the year...

The new Strokes is good! New Depeche Mode is good! Czarface is good! I haven't heard the new Johnny Marr, but I have it.
The album I've been listening to more than any is Guards, "In Gaurds We Trust." But I really don't know anything about the band or why I ended up downloading it. But it's really great.

Apparently so? Or you need to read more music blogs. www.slicingupeyeballs.com is well within my idiom. Also, there's a new John Vanderslice record coming out.

I used to find new music by browsing around itunes, but since Apple no longer sees fit to support such ancient technology as first generation ipads and old iphones (the store apps just crash due to lack of ram), I've been saving a lot of money on music purchases. I don't really understand their logic. The only apps that crash are official Apple apps. Everybody else makes apps that work just fine, so why can't they? I'm hardly about to replace my ipad just so I can buy more crepe.
I wonder if Amazon supports direct to device sales yet? I don't have a working computer any longer (not counting my work laptop).

AND I forget to mention Robyn Hitchcock. Geez, it's college rock from the 90's reunion time.

New Black Rebel Motorcycle Club too. Geez, I could spend $60 on music without trying right now. I'll have to pick one to buy next month.

Okay, you see that blog address I just posted? If you like Depeche Mode AND Robyn Hitchcock, there's probably more overlap too. You might consider reading it regularly. 8)

Actually, I kind of hate Robyn Hitchcock. If I never hear "so you think you are in love" again, I'll be quite happy. It was just a jolt of nostalgia. I'll check out the blog link though.
I'm on my work computer so I browsed itunes a bit and found a couple Boy George maxis I've missed, so I'm happy. <3 George
I don't even know what I like any more. I like lots of Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Kirsty Hawkshaw, PSB, Madonna, Boy George, U2, tons of Irish stuff, Adam Lambert, and most opera except German, especially bel canto and Russian (unless its "modern"). I haven't really explored new things for a while. And I like Kylie Minogue.
Basically, most people think I have abysmal taste in music.

Well then, read that blog so you know what to avoid. 8)
...and your taste in music just sounds eclectic to me. So there you go.

So far I am loving John Grant's 'Pale Green Ghosts', have bought the new Bowie but not listened to it, will download the new Depeche Mode tonight (even though I have only just managed to get into 'Sounds of the Universe').
Am also psyched about new The Knife and potentially a new Goldfrapp album.
Mat.

Off With Their Heads new album "Home". I love this album so much. Pretty much all I've listened to for 2 weeks now. The new Bad Religion was good, too.
