Anybody watching this on SyFy? I'm excited because SyFy UK is actually showing it the day after it airs in the US, so I don't have to download/stream it.
It's the kind of show I'll keep watching because it's easy and has a cool geek credential (it's created by the Farscape creator) but I'm really aware that it's super cheezly. At least it has a pretty nice ratio of women to men characters though, yay!

I had a hard time keeping up with all the people in the first episode but I'm sure that will get easier with time. There are a lot of characters!

Also, I find it a LITTLE hard to believe that's supposed to be only 30ish years in the future.

I watched the pilot, and I liked it enough to stick with it, at least for now.

I'm into it. I'm also kind of a sucker for anything on SyFy. (except lost girl. man, EFF that show!)

I watched part of the pilot, and then I was like, "Hmm, don't care." Maybe I'll try it again.

So now that we got a posse of Definance 'fans' (loose use of the word for now!), which characters do you all root for? I love Irisa and the deputy, and their interactions, so far.
(And how cool are the Orangutan aliens?)

I'm all a bit "been there, seen that" about it. I will finish the episode and watch the second one, but if it doesn't improve dramatically, I'm out of there.

I'm watching the second episode now and finding it hard to pay attention. It's also driving me crazy how the music is almost exactly the same as Battlestar Galactica's. That guy is a one-trick pony. It worked great for BSG but loses its impact the second and third time around.

I'm not impressed yet and feel like I missed a lot somewhere. Did they provide background info on what led the alien species to Earth and why the terraforming?

Jill wrote: I'm not impressed yet and feel like I missed a lot somewhere. Did they provide background info on what led the alien species to Earth and why the terraforming? It seems you have to either go play the game, read the whole backstory online, or just wait until the show actually tells its viewers what's going on. I gave up and just read the backstory. Lots of stuff that wasn't clear or even shown in the episode itself is explained but still, it's like...mayeb the show should have let us know all this? To answer your question, all the alien species came to Earth when their system was destroyed, thinking our world was uninhabited. Cue politics as they tried to settle here with humans, a big war during which Earth got accidentally terraformed, and then...Defiance.)
