I think in one scene I saw Merle use two hands ( to put a pole through a zombie's head, I will have to rewatch that to make sure )

I know it is pointless talking about "being real" in a show about zombies, but maybe the writers had her hesitate on killing him because most people would find killing someone in cold blood hard to do, particularly a lover.

If her character wasn't written to be frustrating, that would have been it for her and most people.

I think that rule doesn't apply after a couple of years of bloody gore everywhere you look.

I keep thinking they're going to reveal Andrea and Michonne were lovers during their winter together - I keep getting that vibe but then it never goes anywhere.

In this episode I felt the most sympathy for the zombie getting its arms cut off. Well, mostly the jaw cracking thing. Yuck.

I have that impression too.

I would say more about some other characters that a comic fan told me, but I don't want to violate the thread.

I kept thinking of that ancient commercial for that kid's game "Mystery Date".

"Girls, don't go out into zombie infested woods alone, get an escort. Mystery date......"

I thought she would have kept it for her return trip after she put all of that work in. Then again it would have been much easier just to smear herself with zombie guts.

Ugh. Seriously. The scene from American History X has haunted me for the past 15 years, so I wasn't ready to watch that again-- even with a zombie who probably can't feel pain.

FOR REAL. curb stomping is unwatchable under any and all circumstances.

I think they have depicted the zombies as feeling some kind of pain, which is why it bothered me so much. Yes, they're constantly trying to kill and eat people, but it seems especially cruel and unnecessary to maim them and parade them around. Not to mention Mr. Let's-Put-Everybody's-Head-in-a-Jar. So yeah, empathy for zombies, I has it. Too vegan?

Do you have examples of this? Now I'm curious. I can't remember any times that it seemed like they could feel pain. And in day-to-day "life" they never seem to fight to survive or seem scared of swords and axes being swung at them.

OH! And I had a dream last night that was probably fueled by this show. Part of the dream was about running from zombies who were trying to eat me and the people I was with. But then there was a point where they just stopped. It was determined that they had gone so long without food (eating people) that they were too worn out and exhausted (ha!). After that, they started dying off and there were a decent amount of alive people left.

Something like this may be a good way to end the show though, when the time comes. They have already been showing the walkers in increasing stages of decay throughout the series. At some point they have to just fall apart and "die", right? The only problem is that since even the living people are infected, there will always be walkers here and there.

I dunno. Not in the same way non-zombies do, since they don't really recoil.* But they seem to react when they're hit with stuff that doesn't kill them. Whenever a limb gets slammed in a door they get louder, I think, but I could be remembering that from some other zombie flick.

*I might argue that any fear they could have is overcome by their instinct to eat people, which in itself could be seen as a kind of fight for survival, though "survival" is a weird word to apply to zombies.

Maybe I'm just projecting. I have a hard time conceiving of a creature that can't suffer.

I thought of that scene last night too. Oy.

It was awesome to see Michonne finally act like a normal person. Smiling, even!

i had a crush on michonne before, but now i lurv her. i got sort of jealous when she mentioned her boyfriend.

I can watch someone curb stomp a zombie's face... but I cannot watch zombies eating rats.

Lessons: "Don't ever be sorry" and always look under welcome mats.
