That is really neat. Part of the reason I never made it through The Silmarillion was because I couldn't keep all the names and relationships straight.

I read this in sixth grade and, honest to Eru, I kept track of them via a family tree I created in my notebook.
I got in trouble with my teacher for keeping my notebook out and writing during reading time.

When I showed her what it was and explained how it related to the book, I'm amazed she kept a straight face.

I did a similar census with Lincoln, and came to the conclusion that 2% of Americans in 1865 were Abraham Lincoln.

Yeah, my brother did this too. I could NOT handle it, and I was 2 years older! But he was also the "obsessively focused" type of kid, and I was (and still am) a bit more scattered about my interests. I swear him and his friend were even learning the languages.
