Has anyone read this? I bought in on a whim, and think it's pretty interesting so far.

I loved the podcast (though not everyone here likes them!) and loved that. I don't really think I need another vegan guide book though. If vegans wore karate suits I'd be like a green belt. Actually, neon green because I'm awesome. And toxic.

I'm about 1/2way through, and have yay's and nay's. As a long term veg (considering the next step) I'm finding some bits thought provoking and others terrifying.....

I have it, but it's been a long time since reading it and I really don't recall much from it. Not sure if that reflects poorly on me or the book.

I read about half of it, but got distracted by a Terry Pratchett book and stopped reading it, although I do sometimes think about picking it up again. I thought it was good, I highlighted a few bits, but I didn't agree with it on everything. Mostly the bits about how they believe it is worthless to fight for better environments for animals on farms. I get their point, but I still think it is worthwhile to make the living conditions of animals better while we work towards the end goal of no animals being exploited in any shape or form.

I'm about a quarter into it [got it a couple of months ago] and I don't feel like I've read enough to form a solid opinion. There are some things I REALLY agree on so far, so we'll see.

I got it when I first went vegan- maybe a week into it. I loved it and found it super helpful then but going back to read it, even six months later, was kind of meh.

Definitely! It was really helpful for a newbie but once I'd figured all that stuff out, it wasn't much help and I gave it to someone interested in veganism. It's a great resource but has an expiration date.

I went vegan because of their podcast, used to be on the forums, etc. but never bought/read the book. My feelings on them have shifted somewhat from undying, unquestioning devotion to a more reasoned perspective, but I'm glad for what they've put out into the world.

You don't need to love them; no one loves Bob Torres like Bob Torres loves Bob Torres.
Anyone who can listen to the podcasts in which they interview Gary Francione has a stronger stomach than I do.
