I try and play it with Venger all the forking time but he sucks at descriptions and would rather eat the cards. forking cats.

We also like Cthulhu Flux, although I think we both agree that it needs more remonstrations against the depraved habits of savages to be truly Lovecraftian.

Have you played Cthulhu Gloom?

I've seen it, but honestly, been kinda overwhelmed by the boom in Lovecraft-themed card and board games. Is it good, then?

It is and in some ways it's better than original Gloom. Besides the Lovecraftian theme, Cthulhu Gloom has various story cards which are essentially goals that you can meet to obtain extra privileges or points. The only thing that really bothers me about the Cthulhu version is that all of the death cards are noted on the back so whenever a player gets to take cards from your hand, they're going to go straight for your death cards. Seems kind of stupid, I'm not sure why they did that.

my favorite overly-competitive game is Mille Bornes. nobody is friends anymore after you play that game. it's THAT good.

Small World is great, although a couple of the combinations seem broken to me. Flying Sorcerers are luuuuuuuuudicrous.

Yes! These are games that are good! I'm a little bit over Settlers, mostly because I've played it infinity times.

Fun fact: the name of the board game group I'm in (with certain nother ppkers) is "Monopoly Friends".

A local game store (like board/card games, not video games) is going out of sale sort of, they are remodelling the mall so they are closing for a few years.

I got the huuuuuge Carssaconne box, that includes all the expansions for like $50. Game night tonight! Finally getting some of my friends into these types of games.

Thinking of buying some of the Killer Bunny games. They don't have the origanal, but the expansions are like $9 each right now, so I am thinking of getting those, then buying the original online or something. Anyone played those? They look pretty fun.

I'm pretty killer at Munchkin.

One time, I was at 9th level and a friend was at 9th level and he went first. We threw everything at him. He wasn't going to win, until I offered to help for no reward. I was an elf, so if we won, we both would level up so we'd both win. And he took it, because we're both winners and everyone else loses! Oh man, they were so mad.

A couple months later, we were playing Star Munchkin. Me and the same friend, same situation. He goes first, and we throw everything at him. He thinks we've thrown everything and he's going to lose, so he drops a "director's cut", which throws out all modifiers and combat starts fresh. He's going to win, so I announce "unless someone has a time warp, Jake's going to win it." Another player drops a time warp to nullify the director's cut. I don't know if he was holding on to it strategically or if he just forgot. Jake was crushed. He lost combat but managed to escape. Then it was my turn. I kick open the door, and out comes some piddly level 2 monster. I'm a cyborg bad asparagus with a huge laser, so I easily stomped it. Everyone was spent from trying to stop Jake. I won.

Yeah, Munchkin is pretty fun.

I love board and card games. This thread is making me wish someone was here with me right now to play.

Update: the iron is out, the cat is in, Monopoly is still boring and terrible.
