anyone else's home invaded by March Madness?
im personally not much of a sports person and am completely uncompetitive but my husband is OBSESSED with March Madness. he grew up outside Syracuse and is a HUGE SU bball fan.
so March Madness is like a big forking deal in my house. im pretty sure our tv has been used for nothing but basketball for the past 2 weeks. he took yesterday and today off to sit at home and watch the tournament.
the funny thing is i have one bracket that i made and he has like 7. i know a little bit about the teams (mostly east coast teams) from being with him for so long but my methods of picking who wins is pretty unscientific. I go with some hippie mojo feeling of whose name feels better to me OR my favorite way of doing it is picking the teams who’s mascot is the cutest. So my bracket is like kicking all his brackets asparagi so far. Im in like the 96th percentile. Lol. In the first round I only picked wrong 3x. Harvard really screwed up my bracket by winning. (and probably everyone elses) I had NM beating them and then also beating AZ in the next round so im forked there.

I did a bracket last year according to whose mascot I thought would win in a fight. I lost big time. No bracket for me this year, but my guy totally cancelled on going to an art lecture with me so he could hang out in a bar with 'guys with big heads who drink beer' and watch basketball. Meh!

yeah my cutest mascot bracket didnt do so hot either and it took a lot of research.
now i go with the "how do i feel about these team names" hahahaha
i picked OR in one over OK cause i was like "well i would much rather go to OR" :-P
very scientific and yet so far im kicking asparagus.
it will all fall apart soon

I am a huge sports fan and love me some college hoops so I am super excited for the next couple of days. My team/alma mater's men and women's teams both are at the dance for the first time ever in school history. It's pretty epic. Their odds are not good but I am just happy for them to have this experience.
In general, I am a Big East fan so there year is a mixed bag of emotion with the conference breaking apart. meh. and the downside to all this excitement is the I will probably be working straight through the weekend and won't be able to see any of the damn games!! boo hiss.
love the bracket for mascots. That is the bracket Obama should have done.
Go Danes!! Go Irish!!

i am bummed about the Big East thing too and as i said i dont even like watch a lot of it. it's somehow ingrained into my brain though.
my husband was really hoping SU would win their last Big East title before they left and they came sooooooo super close until like the last 10 mins of the game. i had to go to bed it was too stressful to watch!
we root for SU to win every year and normally they do pretty well but dont quite make it all the way. last year when the final 8 (?) was in Boston we actually went to 2 of the games. it was a big huge deal for my husband to go and a lot of fun in general. of course it sucked when they lost the second game we were at ;-)

Thankfully March Madness is confined to work for me (seriously, the tv will be on basketball all day every day for the duration and it's practically required to fill out a bracket... manager played college hoops and his two oldest are currently playing college hoops... it's not OK to not be interested so I mostly try to avoid him altogether this time of year.) Biker boy couldn't care less, and other than being mildly interested in Gonzaga's performance, neither could I.

OMG I am working at a cable sports network as a freelancer, and it's some kind of crazy surreal zone here, bball all the time, each 10 hour day like the previous. This is my first season, and I'm totally not a basketball fan, not really even a sports fan. I have no brackets.
They cater for us, two meals per shift, but...I'm sure you see this coming....there is usually three meat dishes, possibly some string beans, and a salad. So I have to bring my own meals. Yesterday there was Oreos though!
Thanks for creating this thread! At least I'm getting paid yo.

I don't usually pay much attention, but it's kind of a big deal at my school so I have to pay a *little* attention. At least this year. My boyfriend cares even less than I do, though.

Woo both my teams are in the sweet sixteen! Boyfriend's team is already out so he's grumpy. Mi don't care too much, but since my boyfriend and I support opposing teams it is a good time.

The Big East championship game was so sad, but Syracuse is having a pretty good run. I'm upset about the end of the Big East, too. Just seems wrong. I didn't make a bracket, but I might as well have since everyone's is wrong this year. It's kinda awesome.

Beat by a 15 seed! No 16 has yet won in the first round. UNC for life! Scoring first, I'd like to declare the game over. 2-0, on to the sweet sixteen.

You guys, I think I caught the fever! Last night the manfriend and I watched Florida Gulf Coast whoop San Diego State in the most exciting and joyful game I have ever watched. They made history, being the first 15 seed to make it to the sweet 16, right? Sports words? Anyway, we're going to watch them play again on Friday and I'm really excited. I hope they win THE WHOLE THING.

it's hard not to love the Florida Gulf Coast winning streak.
Georgetown is a HUGE Syracuse rival so my husband practically peed himself with glee watching Georgetown get beat by them.
then last night my husband had the game on for awhile and i was watching with way more interest than normal and then he switched it to Walking Dead at 9 and i was like I WANNA KNOW WHO WINS!!!!!
it's hard not to love a Cinderella story. i would also love it if they won the whole damn thing.

Kansas and Duke won!
And we got an email announcing the lottery for student tickets to the next round, and I'm wondering who the heck picks up and heads to indianapolis at the last minute to watch a basketball game duke is (sorry, duke.) probably going to lose. Apparently enough people that they have to have a lottery.

I'm an IU student, so I'm rooting for IU.
That said, I normally hate any and all sports, and I only watched the last few minutes of the Temple game.

@pastabake - you're at duke? I'm an alum and now live an hour north of Indy, so I'm super excited to take my daughter to her first Duke game! I'm with you on hating North Carolina, so I'll provide backup if needed...sorry pandacookie.

My first basketball game was actually the last home game I could possibly go to, and it was kind of fun. Now slightly regretful I didn't go to more.
