Ah, I love this thread! I saw a couple good indie ones at FearCon last October. House of 1000 Eyes was something else. I think it one viewer's choice award at the con. Alex Chandon's Inbred, too. Tacky kinda Evil Dead-ish type horror. I LOVED The Shrine, too. If the weeping angels from Doctor Who creeped you out, you'll like this one. The House of the Devil is good, too. It's kind of an 80s horror throwback. OH, and Hatchet! Hatchet 2 Hatchet 3 is supposed to be coming soon, too!

The first time I saw it I didn't know it was a throwback and was like HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE??? So of course when I had a friend over for movie night - a friend I watch a lot of B-grade and classic horror movies with - I did not reveal the timeframe and my friend was like HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE??? It was pretty great.

It's sort of like if Luis Buñuel, David Lynch, and Ken Russell got together, watched a ton of Japanese shock/gore films (Machine Girl, Helldriver, Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl, RoboGeisha), dropped acid, and then made a movie.

May The Woods
by the same director, Lucky McKee. I also love both of these movies! I promise not to keep posting one or two movies at a time.
Roman is a good companion piece to May, and does have a very charming Kristen Bell. They're both more sad-scary than THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE* scary; I find May to be the better movie.
*I guess they remade Black Christmas? I love May so much. Other favorites are The Shining, Rosemary's Baby and I feel kind of dorky saying this, but also Poltergeist. I grew up watching it so I have a soft spot for it and even though it's not scary it is fun to watch and sort of chuckle at. I don't know that I would necessarily call it horror, but I also recommend Joshua. It's one of those infuriating movies where the audience can see that the main character is being legitimately terrorized but it appears to the other characters that she is just loosing her mind. It totally made me even more terrified of having kids than I already was.

Did anyone mention Grave Encounters? That movie scared the peas out of me. Best found footage horror movie out there. I watched GE2 the other night and it was OK, but not as good.
Also, I love Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. I can watch that movie over and over and over.
