I didn't look at it that way. I thought he got into a fight with Harry, because he was worried about his family and could not be with them because Trudy kicked him out for sleeping around with impunity.

I don't like Harry either and I do not know why. I don't think he is any different from the other executives in any way other than he is homely.

well, he's a bottom line guy through and through. (also a bit selfish). at least the partners appear to think things through and think of how their actions might affect the other employees.

I think Pete's reaction was multivalent. Yes, he can be a "creepy misogynist pig," but one of the great things about this show is that characters aren't (usually) just one thing. Pete was genuinely upset at MLK's assassination and wanted to be with his family, Trudy's rejection stung him deeply, and he took that out on Harry ("in terms [he] would understand")at the office next day because Harry - while also a dirtbag - still has his family, and on some level those are also the only terms on which a white, patrician, rich kid like Pete Campbell can connect with someone like MLK (also a big, fat cheater, although that may not have been common knowledge at the time).

It seems like that. When I think of what makes the other executives unlikable it is their infidelity and how fast they are to sell out an ethic for money. Don is famous for this. He will say "no way" to a sleaze maneuver and harly 38 seconds will pass before he goes for the money instead. Abandoning the Heinz bean guy is just the latest example.

I don't think Harry has slept around on his as much ( if at all ) on his wife. All of the more popular characters have and with impunity.

Harry is focused on money over people, but so are all of the other character usually. Harry also hasn't sold anyone out, unlike the other executives.

So why do I dislike him?

The writers write the other characters disliking him and being disgusted by him.
He is homely.

Those are the only differences I can think of.

He also had a fling with Hildy back at the old office. Remember he was sleeping at the office because his (pregnant? I think) wife wouldn't let him come home.

Harry's problem is just that he's less sophisticated than the partners. He's openly sleazy instead of hiding behind a polish of sophistication. When he tries to get away with what the partners do, he gets caught immediately. It makes sense that he works with TV, which is also brash and a bit sleazy.

LOL! That was *one* time. You would need a spreadsheet to keep track of how many times the other executives cheated on their wives.

That seems to fit with why the other executives and fans do not like his character. He isn't as polished ( which isn't exclusive with being homely ) at being sleazy and in their world image matters.

Harry just doesn't have a good personality.

I would concur. Roger, for example, is a total cad, but he has a magnetic personality. Harry, not so much.

Peggy, what are you doing? Actually, I always kinda saw Gabe as a stop-gap/phase for her that went on longer than expected. Ted actually seems more her type.

I loved Joan's speech to Don after they found out about Jaguar/Chevy. I'm glad someone said that to him. I'm actually a little annoyed that he was able to pull it out of the bag because I'd really like to see some consequences for him.

There was as far as I'm aware, unless I somehow got a week behind.

Whoa! I so didn't see the merger coming. I wonder how things will change and what Don's partners will say, especially after Joan's speech.

Geez Pete, just when I think you can't be any more of a worm, you prove me wrong.

I think Peggy was upset by the merger too, maybe she is concerned that she will be back under Don's thumb or that she will no longer be able to say that she went out on her own.

Yah, Pete is a worm, but his father inlaw was also being a massive hypocrite.

The look on Peggy's face as it dawned on her that she's going to be working for Don again was priceless. Will this put a crimp in her flirtation with Turtleneck Ted? How will Peggy's position as chief copywriter or whatever the hell it is impact her (already complex) relationship with Joan? Will Abe be left behind in his proletariat idyll? Is Don coming to his senses about Slutty McNunface (refreshingly absent this week)?? And will we ever see Betty and Sally again???

i have a feeling that they're not going to be moving the ENTIRE business out to detroit. i think they may keep the SCDP building and then move a few people out to detroit. i mean megan needs to be in NYC!

I think they'll just establish an outpost in Detroit and the CGC people will move into the SCDP office; that expanded set is too swanky to get thrown under the bus after only appearing in about 5 episodes! (And the CGC office is so dark, dingy, and depressing by comparison.) Besides, Mad Men belong on Madison Avenue!

I think that is a given with all of the foreshadowing: Peggy daydreaming about messing with her boss, her obvious displeasure with the dump she is living in.

But she bought that dump, and since it's been made pretty clear that she pays for everything, we know Abe can't buy it from her when they (inevitably) break up...so she'll lose a fortune trying to sell it and just be that much crankier.
