I could watch that all day. Pretty good acting though - I imagine it's hard to make/let yourself fake fall down stairs.

I fell down the stairs several years ago at a Christmas party. I was wearing slippery shoes and the stairs were shiny wood. I was holding a glass of wine. A group of people observed as I slipped on the first stair, landed on my asparagus, and went bump bump bump bump bump all the way to the bottom. At the end I was miraculously still holding the glass of wine, not a drop spilled. And that's what's important.

I loved Pete's falling down the stairs and how pissy he was when he stood up. That and Joan telling Don off were my absolute favorite parts of the episode.

Impressive! I'm so pissed I missed this episode too.

What is up with him? Does he just give zero shiitakes about the company now? I feel like he's a ticking timebomb.

I like Joan's little romance. The plane scene scared the fork out of me.

The dominance thing was creepy. It feels like Don is on a serial killer trajectory at this point.

Yes. And he seems really shitty at dominance. But maybe that's the point? I wish they would give us some more obvious insight into what's going on with him. Is he just having some major control issues?

Total control issues. To say he has issues with females is a gross understatement, and given the little glimpses into his childhood, I take it we are supposed to be thinking "mommy issues." I think Peggy "deserting" him by going to the new agency and Megan gaining some career independence is rocking his world quite a bit. Now he is seeking out opportunities to try and exert dominance whenever he can. The Sylvia relationship is an example as his way of dominating a significant other, and getting Ted plowed is his way of getting back at Peggy in some twisted way. I agree with Mollyjade. He was so disgusting it was frankly almost difficult to watch.

I wish we would've seen how the merger discussion came about. After yesterday's episode I have it in my mind that it was all Don's manipulation and while the merger might be mutually beneficial, he wasn't exactly not driven by the idea of getting Peggy back under his thumb, if that makes sense. It'll be interesting to see how he continues to behave at work because at this rate his personal agenda issues are going to derail him. Ted may have to keep taking him up in that plane to show him what's up.

On a happier note, I hope something good happens with the Joan romance. She needs a nice guy.

Yeah, I was kind of shocked to hear myself say, "I think I'm actually on Team Ted here."

Wowza, I loved this episode. So much going on!

Pete's hissy fits are my favorite thing ever.

Jeez Don. What a sociopath he is in this episode. I didn't really buy Lindsay Weir's initial interest in his dominance, nor her leaving it in the end.

Everything else was perfect though.

I don't think she was supposed to come across as legitimately interested in his dominance--her facial expression was that of being truly creeped out by it. But, she wants to be wanted, and he was filling a temporary void for her. I think she initially went along with it because she was still in the space of needing someone there, and if those were the terms on which he was going to stick around, she was going to take him up on it.

And then she came to her senses.

That's how I read it.

That was an intense episode! Don, what the hell are you doing?
I wonder if he'll go all psycho stalker on the Christian ex-affair. Or tell her husband? He might admire Arnold too much to that, though.
That "please" made me almost feel sorry for him and his effed-upness. Almost!

yeah, the "inside mad men" extra thing on itunes explained it that he's feeling powerless at work and in his marriage, that he had to get it somehow. (getting ted drunk was part of it too. peggy calling him out on it and her telling him she was hoping ted would rub off on him, not the other way around took him back down a rung.) when sylvia told him she was through, he had power nowhere.

i'm glad joan now has a head secretary type to delegate some of her responsibilities to. (even if they do clash personalities.)

I just...this needed to be in this thread twice.
