maybe it's because he's an actor and it's not actually genuine, but bob's kindness doesn't seem in-world genuine to me, and i don't know if that's supposed to be on purpose, or just a side effect of the world not being real.

I think we're supposed to be suspicious; he's a little too nice. There are theories he's a spy or an undercover something-or-other. Joan should bang him anyway. Afterward, he'd bring her coffee!

at first i thought he was brown-noser, and was being nice just to climb the ladder. (turns out that was partially true, even if it wasn't intended. at least in reference to not being laid off.)

I thought I was watching a crappy remake of Secretary for part of that.

My current plot wish is for that apartment building to collapse with all four of the annoying tenant-characters in it. Don's been written into a corner and the rest of them have been uninteresting from the start. NEXT.

I was thinking about the Peggy-Ted thing. She might dump whazzisname who can't find a barber, but they won't put her in a permanent relationship with Ted, because the only logical thing for the late '60s would be for her to quit her job, especially if they got married. (which always happens when the other partners start openly dating an underling, right?) I don't find her partner very interesting, but he's..nonthreatening.

Peggy's partner is one of those guys who is totally socially active/conscious in the 60s, burns out in the 70s, and becomes a yuppie in the 80s.

I'm moving towards Team Ted as well. He seemed a bit douche-y in earlier seasons, but he's seemed better in this season. And he's practically a saint compared to Don.

I'm gonna call shenanigans on Joan's medical issue. When I had an ovarian cyst that was so bad it made me feel like I was dying, I had to have emergency surgery and spent days in hospital. Apart from that, that scene actually made me like Bob a little. I've been wondering what the point of him was since the beginning of the season.

I did not like Don's 50 Shades of Grey Suits thing...I know that gets some women off, I would have punched him...

I'm watching this one again. Don is penduluming - he was so close to Megan and in moving away, he's not just moving away from her, he's not only found a mistress, but he's treating his mistress like an object, blatantly as men would have treated a bordello inhabitant from his childhood. It's so creepy. I am not entirely sure what's happening, and I am curious what the writers want us to notice about this.

yeah, the "inside mad men" extra thing on itunes explained it that he's feeling powerless at work and in his marriage, that he had to get it somehow. (getting ted drunk was part of it too. peggy calling him out on it and her telling him she was hoping ted would rub off on him, not the other way around took him back down a rung.) when sylvia told him she was through, he had power nowhere.

i'm glad joan now has a head secretary type to delegate some of her responsibilities to. (even if they do clash personalities.)

This helps, ty, supercarrot! Don, stop being a weasel. I don't like Megan, and I hate that I like her more than you lately.

I forgot about the Ted thing. I thought that was a crappy thing to do. Don does act like a big man-child when things do not revolve around him.

I thought Pete's mom was not convincing enough, maybe it was just me. It was a little dry.

i couldn't find an actress name for pete's mom. but at times she looked and sounded like moira from american horror story.

All kinds of craziness. I love when they do indulgent episodes, especially when the undertone is dark. Super scary for Sally. But she gets boots, so that is good.

I thought it was gonna' be that Don totally falls apart. But it just kinda' made him get his shiitake together. It also reminded me of that time I downed a jar of my mom's Taster's Choice on a dare.

I kind of liked this ep - it was all over the place in a good way (last week was bo-ring!) - but the Don flashback scenes lack the subtlety and power of the ones from earlier seasons. It all just seems a bit obvious and heavy-handed.

Yeah, this episode didn't really move the story along much. But it's totally worth it for tap dancing Ken.

I think it covered that obsessive feeling one gets when one is rejected. Not that I've ever been rejected. But how you obsess over the person, but it's really not at all about that person, and then you see them in an elevator, and you're like, "Oh jeez, you boring turd, what was I thinking?"

Word.

I actually loved this episode; it was impossible to tell what was real and what wasn't. For a minute there I even thought Sally was imagining "Grandma" Ida. It was almost like actually being on drugs, but this morning I felt fine and had no regrets!
