I am the type of person who can describe his or her life in webcomics. Nearly everyday, some situation arises in which i wish i could insert some webcomic because it would fit perfectly.

My favorite is xkcd, even though i'm not super math-y and sometimes (yes, i'm not afraid to admit it) i have to use wikipedia to get the joke. It's a nice reason to learn something new.

I also like Buttersafe, SMBC, and Blue Milk Special.

What are your favorite webcomics?

http://www.oglaf.com <- STRAIGHT UP SMUT (but funny as hell)

http://www.questionablecontent.net (check out the older strips for a pretty great example of how art can improve with practice.)

I've been reading Penny Arcade for years. Through PA, I've started reading PVP and The Trenches.

I love Perry Bible Fellowship even though it's rarely updated now.

I read SMBC daily and it's mostly good, even if it gets a little formulaic. I kickstarted his science collection!

I stopped reading PVP years ago, when he got kind of bizarre and ranty. Plus it looked like it was going to go the same direction as Goats and Sluggy Freelance and too many others of those old-school webstrips and decide to take itself all seriously and start telling would-be deep stories in the context of what started out as a daily gag strip with multi-day themes and a sort of lightweight plot thing. Plus for some reason Scott Kurtz's politics started really irritating me, but I forget exactly what was going on there. Probably sexism or just general idiocy or something. I dunno.

SMBC is pretty cool but I mostly forget about it until somebody links to a strip, and then I read whatever's shown up since the last time somebody linked to it... Same with xkcd, but I remember to check that on my own.

Oh, I like erfworld ( www.erfworld.com ) but I wish they updated more often since I sort of lose track of the plot.

And The Order of the Stick is consistently awesome: http://www.giantitp.com/

I second questionablecontent.net ! I've read them all (read through the archives), and I agree with Solipsistnation about how cool it is to see that practice really works for improving your drawing!

I second this. I've been reading it for something like 10 years, but I still find it great. It used to be Scary Go Round, now it is Bad Machinery -- there are some cross-over characters, though it is a different concept and stuff. Both rock, but I'd definitely recommend dipping back into the SGR archives.

I've been reading it since it was "Bobbins!"

I even have some of the books he's put together...

I used to read a ton, but nowadays Hark! A Vagrant! Is the only one that I read with any regularity.

And unfortunately she doesn't post with any regularity. :(

I read Homestuck, but that's more of a lifestyle than a comic.

I really enjoy Kagerou (and have been following it for eight or nine years) but its update schedule is... something else... The art is quite shaky early on but evolves dramatically. Watching the style grow and shift is half the fun, haha. Trigger warnings all over the place, though. Some of the links on the website are broken - just replace electric-manga.com with kagerou.org and they should work.

OH OH OH. Rice Boy. I don't actually know how to explain Rice Boy. It's really cool, though. Weird and cool.

I read Scary Go Round a while ago but for some reason never picked up Bad Machinery, and I'm not sure why. I cannot second the recommendation of Oglaf hard enough. I forking love Oglaf.

I heard of Girls With Slingshots in a panel at Emerald City Comic Con. My roommate picked it up and she tells me it's really amazing with some great queer characters. Speaking of queer characters, I read Khaos Komix while it was updating, but I have yet to pick up its successor, Shades of A, though the same roomie tells me it is also quite good.

Meanwhile, this thread has reminded me that I need to go catch up on my xkcd consumption!

Ooh yeah. I bought the collected Rice Boy. I haven't read his new thing yet (and yeah, I know it's up at like 400 pages) because I suspect I'd rather sit down and read it through on paper, oddly enough. ...and thank you for reminding me because it looks like the next big story IS out in a book! Yay!

I just discovered this series and am totally infatuated! And I've got two of the books coming to me through the library reservation system!

Dunno if it counts as a web-comic, but I love Bizarro :)
