Perfect. YES!

That does make a lot of sense. I figured she was a psychiatrist that Dexter saw as a kid, but that didn't explain her knowing about the code.

Nailed it.

I think she is discovering that Dexter isn't actually a psychopath. She keeps mentioning things about how she's surprised at his empathy and need for human connection-- that that isn't something she normally sees in her studies. I think she's coming to see that his behavior as a kid maybe could have been curbed and that she wrote him off wrongly as someone who had no other path.

Something is off with her though. I wouldn't be surprised if SHE was the brain-bit serial killer.

Also, the Deb story may be a set up for some Good Killer vs. Bad Killer ending.

Yeah, she's either the brain killer or controlling the brain killer in order to manipulate Dexter or the situation in some way. Dexter isn't actually a serial killer, she just turned him into one and now she needs to see if she can turn him back. In the end, the test is going to be if Dex can kill her. If he can't then he is cured. Also, she wants Deb and Dex to do it.

I bet at some point she will suggest that he kill Deb, since we're probably only a few episodes away from Deb meeting the code.

OR the writers are pissed at us for figuring out their obvious "twist" in season 6 and are being super obvious just to mess with us because they don't care about making a good show, they now only exist to punish us.

If they want to punish us, Deb and Dexter are definitely going to hook up.

I too was thinking that Dr. Vogel as the "brain surgeon" was too obvious and probably a set up my the writers to try and trick us. It just seems way too overly foreshadowed to not be a setup pitch for the eventual curveball.

The only thing I know at this point is that I'm glued to the show.

I suppose the question to be answered is exactly how evil is Dr. Vogel.

Or, they will end with one of those 90s era season finale dream sequences and we will find out that Dexter Morgan is a comic book character dreamed up by Matsuka in his spare time.

Jeff Lindsay is going to show up and demand that everyone read his books to find out what really happened. It's all a publicity stunt.

I woder if they would kill off the character in the tv show but not the books? Or if Jeff Lindsey retained that much control? I know authors usually don't, but there might be a clause for anything that could kill book sales.

I've heard that the books are quite a bit different. I have the first two on Kindle but haven't gotten into them yet. Has anybody read them?

I've read or listened to all of them. After book 1/season 1 there are A LOT of differences (I won't say any more to avoid spoilers). They're worth a read!

I haven't watched Dexter since series 4 (it moved to a channel I didn't have access to so I watched 4 on dvd).

Is there any point watching this series without seeing the rest? I've got the first two episodes recorded so far. I heard 5 and 6 weren't brilliant but do I need to at least see 7 where Debs finds out?

I would skip 5 but try to watch 6 if you can. Season 6 sets up the storyline for season 7. Season 5 is totally unnecessary. You could skip 6 also, but you might end up wishing you had seen it first. Just my opinion.

I think Deb finds out at the end of the season 6, not 7. Seven is mostly dealing with Deb knowing. I would at least watch the last episodes of each season to get the cliffhangers. And I like season five, I would watch it just to watch it. I would not watch six, so super boring.

Thanks for the opinions. Looks like I can't get away with cutting out much (time wise or cost wise). I might as well stop recording it as sadly I can't store the whole last series for the length of time it'll take me to catch up on the rest.
