I am! I think. If nothing else, you've reminded me to set my DVR.

So I used to work with Caleb at a part-time job a while back. Totally random.

I think Rupert is a big stupid for making the move he made. And I think they made the wrong move voting Marissa off.

I'm not surprised that Rupert gave up his spot for Laura. I do however think that's why he never wins though, because he always puts his heart first, though I don't feel too badly about that since he won a million before for being fan favorite.

So...

-Colton is a little bisque, just like last time. I hope the teaser for next week means he'll be out, but I doubt it.

-It bugs me that they are calling Redemption Island a "duel" with three people competing.
du·el:
1. a prearranged combat between two persons, fought with deadly weapons according to an accepted code of procedure, especially to settle a private quarrel.
2. any contest between two persons or parties.

-That said, I love Redemption Island.

I didn't get to watch the season opener, so last night was the first episode I got to watch. I did not realize that they had brought back Colton. He is a deal-breaker for me and I am hella disappointed that the show's producers decided to bring him back. I will watch a tiny bit more of next week's episode to see if he gets booted off, but I don't really care to watch him at all. He is racist, sexist, and just plain mean.

I think having the "loved one" on the other team complicates strategy in a really interesting way and makes the pre-merge competition and voting really complicated, in a good way.

I'm with you zelavie - it irritates me when a duel has three people in it. Just call it a battle or a competition.

I found that Hulu has a bunch of seasons of Survivor available now, including the first one. I remember watching that with my mom while I was at home for the summer from college, and how passionate we got about the various contestants. I just re-watched season 1, episode 1, and it's SO different! Jeff Probst is super subdued, there's a lot more footage of their surroundings, the whole thing is less... produced? And of course, being the first season, the contestants don't really have a sense of game play. Before the first tribal vote, there was almost no strategizing (that they showed). It's amazing how much the show has changed in 26 (!!) seasons. It's still one of my all-time favorite shows!

Oh, and YAY for Colton showing his true colors early on and sparing all of us his misery.

I was really surprised to learn that Colton had feigned his appendicitis last season.

That is sad. He was nice person, even if Colton wasn't.
