the pacing in the premiere was crazy fast. they could have held off at least the thomas and bates stuff for later. also, edith is the worst!

So what's the spoiler protocol in this thread? Desdemona and I have watched both seasons + the Christmas special online, there are UK folks on here, and it sounds as if the Aussies are further ahead than the yanks. Are we allowed to dish about all the action, or what???

I watched the entire first season in two days and am so happy season two has started! I'm a little overwhelmed by all the awful stuff (already!), but I have faith that things will work out. The eternal optimist.

I took that quiz and I'm Anna Smith, who is one of my favorites.

As for spoilers, can you use the spoiler tags if you're going to post something past where PBS is showing it now? I don't want to know!

i've watched both seasons + the christmas special, too, but season 2 is just airing now on PBS in the states, so i would say that since spoiler rules are that you can discuss something only if it's aired, then it's not safe to discuss season 2 in here before each episode airs.

Fair enough. I'll simply say that lots of things happen, the war doesn't go well for everyone, and Lady Mary continues to make her Special Vole Face quite a lot!

My one hope for this season is that Anna and Bates get a goddamn happy ending. Everything else is secondary to me. (I'm not inviting spoilers! Just venting because those two are killing me. KILLING. ME.)

WORD. Bates's words to Molesley when the latter inquired about any admirers Anna may have...swoon.

I finally just took the quiz! I'm Edith, which is one of my favorites! I read some reviews/recaps of the show lately to get a different perspective and was surprised to see that many view Edith as homely! Which I don't agree with at all.

My character match is also the Dowager Countess of Grantham, Violet Crawley. I love her and the tight mouthed, little look she gets when she is displeased.

How amazing is the complexion of ALL of the female characters? I am completely enraged that I do not have that creamy white English Rose skin. Is it make-up, lighting, natural luminosity?

Season 2 Thoughts:
I am pretty sure I couldn't hate Thomas more than I do.
The costumes are so beautiful, esp Mary's formal dresses. I want that entire wardrobe department in my size!
Lady Sybil continues to delight and I like her even more this season.
Lady Edith has warmed up and gotten some moxie - she has become much more likable to me.
Lady Mary - Is she she a cold-hearted snake? Misunderstood? I cannot decide.

Vera Bates and Sir Richard Carlisle are gonna stir up some major drama! What do you think about Matthew's new (commoner) fiance Lavinia?

I think Edith is very pretty too! Her red hair and creamy complexion are show stoppers! She may not be traditionally beautiful but her face has character and I love her nose. Homely? NO.

I really want all of Lavinia's clothes - I love that proto-'20s boho chic thing she's got going on.

I don't know if anyone has seen this: Telegrams from Downtown

It's pretty hilarious, but it does have spoiler pictures if you haven't seen all of Season 2 yet.

For those that want to look at the site, but don't want to completely know what happens in Season 2, you can look at the archive. Just shut your eyes, scroll to the end of the page, and don't look at anything past September 2011. (Yeah I know that's not terribly helpful, but I'm trying).

spoiler rules are only if it hasn't aired at all tho! It has been on in the uk so it's ok to discuss, right? Otherwise everyone is going to have to wait several years to discuss any tv show if it has to have been shown in every territory ever. AND I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!!!

Can't you discuss it within the spoiler tags?

Can't y'all discuss 99% of threads within this room using spoiler tags? Ok, mostly I'm joking and this is a short thread where people have asked not to be spoilered so I am totally down with that. But for real most of the threads here are about shows that have aired in the US waaaay in advance of the rest of the world and I don't think those of us outwith would dream of asking that no one discuss them untill they've been aired everywhere else.
