When I look for "Vegan" on Netflix, the only thing I get is "Eugene Mirman: Vegan on His Way To A Complain Store."

So I thought maybe I should get better recommendations from the PPK.

What should I watch PPK? I watched Master of None and Jessica Jones thanks to you guys and loved them. So clearly you're better than the algorithms in knowing what I'd like. Please do share your recommendations!

ETA: Not looking just for vegan stuff - but would love to know what people here generally like! You guys have great taste!

I'm confused. Do you want vegan recommendations? Or just anything? What kind of stuff do you like? there' SO MUCH on there. I watch a ton of BBC mystery shows. I'm rewatching Fringe and Farscape right now. Just finished the X-Files.

Another good way to get recommendations on netflix is to start rating a lot of stuff that you've already watched.

Okay, I clarified! I would love to know what other people are watching and loving. Whenever the PPK posts about something great, I end up loving it. I wouldn't have watched Jessica Jones or Master of None (got Netflix thanks to you guys!), or listened to Serial if I hadn't read the threads here.

I'm going to watch "An Idiot Abroad" now

Oooooooh! I loved Broadchurch! That was one of the most beautifully photographed shows I've ever seen, and the writing and acting was brilliant. I am so excited for the third season! Chibnall is supposedly in talks to take over Doctor Who after Moffat steps down, and if that happens, I'm excited to see how that turns out.

I'm excited to check out Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries!

There is so much out there, it's great to hear what others have enjoyed.

Foyle's War, Black Books, Bletchley Circle, Call the Midwife, IT Crowd, Luther, Peep Show, Doc Martin, Merlin, The Great British Baking Show, Wallander, Top of the Lake, Happy Valley. Most of these are old, but they are all on Netflix.

Weirdly I can't get Broadchurch or Bletchley circle on Netflix UK, which is a bummer as I've been wanting to watch those.

I highly recommend RUN, it's only 4 episodes but is awesome. Another vote for Luther, and Call the midwife. Peaky blinders was great, Top boy is one to watch too if you enjoy RUN.

House of cards, Orange is the new black, breaking bad, Dexter, how to get away with murder and sons of anarchy are all shows I have LOVED.

I love The Leftovers ...it's intense and super metaphorical, but amazing television. My boss has informed me I'm watching Transparent next, and he has yet to steer me wrong...so I'll bet that's good too!

Transparent is indeed amazing but that's Amazon Prime!

Peep Show is really funny; my husband loves it. It's an insane show. Have you watched the US shows that are now on there like Gilmore Girls and Parks and Brooklyn 99 (i am surprised at how much I like B99)? I'm sure you have I will try to think of newer things! ORPHAN BLACK!! My fave!

I don't know if it's on the American Netflix but I'd recommend Rectify, Fargo & Bojack Horseman. I also agree with the Brooklyn 99 one, Peep Show, Dr Who.

So I haven't watched it yet, but it seems EVERYONE I know is talking about "Making a Murderer" so that's next on my to-watch list! (I mean, after Transparent, since my boss asks me everyday if I've started that yet)

BoJack and Orange is the New Black.

I agree that Jessica Jones and Master of None were great.

You'll race through it in a couple of days - I couldn't stop moving on to the next episode as the seethe levels rose.

You have already gotten lots of excellent recommendations (Luther, Bletchley Circle, Foyle's War) and I would add:

Sherlock ('nuff said)
The Last Tango in Halifax (a sweet story of an older couple who reunite after many years apart; the first season is pure gold, it gets a little too soap opera-y after that, but still worth it)
Nikita (trained assassins!! can get ridiculous but is fun- with Maggie Q)
Orphan Black (sci-fi and fascinating)
The Fall (creepy killer stuff but excellent - with Gillian Anderson)

And I know this one is a movie but I try to push it whenever I can
Blue is the Warmest Color. a beautiful film and at three hours long, it's kind of like binge watching

Let us know what you liked!

Some of mine have already been said and a lot of them deal with crime/solving crime.

Dexter is really good but sometimes can be difficult to watch for some people. The Killing is good but it is also pretty sad because it is investigating the deaths of teenage girls for the most part.

Luther (best show ever... seriously :), crime drama)
Psych (also best show ever, comedy)
Life (extremely good show that was cut short, it has funny comments but focus is crime drama)
Scandal (soap opery related to politics)
House of Cards (US version) (funny drama, related to politics)
Dexter (if you don't like blood, you won't like this but overall a good show, crime drama)
Lost (weird mystery of people on an island with various events)
The Office (UK version) (comedy)
Hemlock Grove (kind of soap opery) (vampires and werewolves with all their drama)
Happy Valley (crime drama set in the UK)
The Killing (murder mystery set in Seattle)
Sherlock (smart, funny crime drama)
River (just started watching but seems good so far, another crime drama)
Hell on Wheels (drama about the creation of the US railroad)
iZombie (a zombie tries to solve crimes )
Sons of Anarchy (set in California, about a motorcycle gang)
The Blacklist (crime drama with twists and turns)
Orange is the new Black (set in a women's prison, side characters are more interesting than main character)
Wentworth (set in a women's prison, based in New Zealand)

+1 to iZombie, because it's a fun whodunit but also because the first few episodes at least have the best depiction of depression I have ever seen in a TV show.

I really like true crime, so what's good on Netflix is:

Forensic Files
Making a Murderer
Inside the American Mob
The Poisoner's Handbook
Cybercrimes with Ben Hammersley
Dear Zachary (just a warning that it is terribly depressing, even for a true crime)

Other stuff I just like:

Reel Injun- I think practically mandatory viewing what with the Ridiculous Six disaster
Restrepo, and it's sequel Korengal
Anything Ken Burns, but particularly I love his Civil War series and Prohibition
Nurse Jackie- want to watch this again, I was watching it years ago with my old roommate but never kept up when I moved elsewhere. Roommate was a nurse thought and thought it was the most accurate show, medical wise at least.
Twin Peaks
Beasts of No Nation-so sad, but really good.
The Black Power Mixtape

And if you're not opposed to anime, Netflix has the second season of Mushishi, which is amazing. Funimation has the first season on Youtube for free, I don't know why they didn't give Netflix the rights to the first season but it's there if you'd rather watch the first season first.

First four seasons are spectacular... then it goes downhill quickly

Couple more things you should probably already know about:
1) Arrested Development
2) Breaking Bad

Loved Once upon a time.
Just started watching Making a Murderer. On episode 2. I feel like I may have all 10 episodes by this time tomorrow.
Finished Suits yesterday. Really enjoyed it. As always season one is the best. Fell off a bit on season 3.
House of cards is highly recommended. I need it to be March for the new season.
If you can handle violence Sons of Anarchy is AMaZING. The finale is quite simply the best show finale I have ever seen. There is no bitter disappointment at the end and feeling like your time was robbed.
Which brings me to Dexter. Absolutely loved it. Yes it is pretty gorey but I love the concept of a psychopath with strict morals. Makes for interesting watching. The finale though. Bitterly disappointing. I think it is about 2 years now since it was aired and I am still hurt and upset at how pathetic that finale is.
If downton abbey is on it give that a watch. Love it. Haven't seen the finale season yet though as I no longer have tv.

I also forgot White Collar, it is another show focused on solving crimes but all the crimes are things related to art/forgery

My interests are really random but I just finished rewatching Queer as Folk for the 3rd time.
Currently my husband and I are in the middle of binge watching The West Wing which I love and did not think I would love.

I love the UK version of Queer as Folk! I think Netflix just has the US one, though, right?

I've put so many of these on my list and I'm so excited! Thank you!

I started Peep Show and OMG Olivia Colman! I love her so much.

Blue is the Warmest Color sounds amazing, but I'm nervous about supporting a film where the actresses had such a huge falling out with the director about the way they felt treated.... http://www.newyorker.com/culture/cultur ... sh-too-far

We don't watch a lot of movies and usually if we do, we split them in half

'Dean Spanley' is a quirky movie athat I'd recommend and there are some good documentaries as well. Oh and 'Mary and Max' as well.
