Being Human (UK Version)

Not sure if there was a thread on the old boards or not. I just finished the second season finale, and I love this show so damn hard. I caught the first episode of the American version and decided to watch this one. So glad I did. I find the characters so much more charming in this one.

Anybody else watching this? The 3rd Series premieres on BBC America on the 19th. I can't wait to see how the Annie storyline plays out. Plus, the Herrick thing!

I caught up through Netflix. It's really good! I'm trying to give the American one a fair chance, but the actors just aren't as connected or something.

i watched the first two seasons, but I'm kind of over it. I like the stuff about the roommates, but I don't like all the vampire drama. I liked the first season a lot, but in the second season I only liked Annie's storyline. George annoyed the crepe out of me with his dumb relationship.

sorry, i didn't mean to be a bummer. I kind of want to watch season 3 just for Annie. The part with her mom was so sad!

While I didn't hate the second season, it made me mad that Mitchell went all darkside. I thought it was refreshing that he was a vampire that wasn't constantly brooding in the first season. I completely agree about George's relationship. If it's not Nina, I ain't tryin' to hear that.

New episodes are on Sunday nights!

I loved the first season, less so the second (mostly because of broody Mitchell and George's relationship). I don't know how I feel about it now. I barely watched the first episode, and we haven't watched the second. But I don't think I'm as in to it as I was when it first started. It was really original in the first season, but now it kinda feels like it's been done.

I've been watching the 3rd series and enjoying it, though not quite as much as the 1st season when I was pretty into it. I agree, 2nd season was sort of annoying.

Yeah! I keep telling my sister that it bugs me how they lack a chemistry with each other. Also, I think the American vampire and ghost aren't even half as charming and adorable as Mitchell and Annie. I do think Sam Huntington is kinda winning me over as Josh, though. Maybe.

George is in one of the Christmas episodes of Doctor Who! I did this when I saw him: "SQUEEEEE!"

I'm a big fan of the British Being Human. I don't understand why they'd make an American version... ?

I know, it's like America has none of its own ideas, so they produce watered down versions of BBC successes. Sort of sad really.

it's weird because America DOES have good shows, too many to name, but they still feel the need to pull this remake crepe. I was talking to a friend from England about Being Human and Skins and he said in the UK they just show American shows, but here we seem to think people can't handle the accents so we have to remake the exact same shows! it's so weird.

I also think it has a lot to do with our highly censored culture. A lot of the stuff that is shown in the British version would never happen in the American one. For instance, there's a scene where Annie bursts into the bathroom while George is taking a dump. I found that highly amusing and refreshing. Stuff like that doesn't happen on American tv.

Also, there's a lot more nudity. And junk grabbage.

Teh Boyfriend has been trying to get me to watch the American version and I'm afraid to - that I'll get aggrivated (since the British version is so smart).

Yeah. New eps on BBC America on Saturday nights!

The American version is growing on me somewhat. I still don't find the characters nearly as charming, but it's starting to find its voice.

I just watched the pilot. It's very good! I really loved the Hogwarts dialogue.

I did some poking around on the wiki page and I see that Mitchell won't return for Series 4. It's a shame. I like him in the pilot, and he seems the kind of character I would like. He has (so far) a quiet type of humor that I can appreciate.

I'm about to start the first episode, which is supposed to have a vastly different feel than the pilot. I hope I still like it.
