I'm glad no one was around when I was watching that, because I was all screeching noises and flailing at the television screen. I want to discuss it, but I'm not yet at the point where I can form coherent thoughts about it.

I really enjoyed it, I've never been a fan of Eccleston, but a big fan of Matt Smith so it suited me down to the ground. My sister and her boyfriend came to visit just before it started (the same thing happened when the last episode was on and I missed it) so after a few minutes I went to the "bathroom" and came back and hour and 20 minutes later

Did anyone watch it in 3-D? They're showing it at a couple local movie theaters in 3-D on Monday, and I really want to go, but I don't know anyone IRL who watches Doctor Who. I obviously need better friends.

I think he's made an effort to pretend he never did it. I didn't particularly like him as the Doctor, but it's a bit joyless of him to not join in.

I thought I read somewhere that Eccleston felt that the people behind the scenes were shitty to him and/or other people on the show. I could be misremembering, but if that were the case, I can see why he'd be less inclined to be involved.

In case people haven't seen it yet:
Spoiler: show
At the end when all the Doctors showed up, and the guy said something about all 12 of them (how did they know there were 12 if he was only up to 9 at that point?) and then Capaldi's eyebrows came on and said 13! I clapped and squeed and scared the cat so much that he jumped up and ran off.

As per your spoiler, that was one of the biggest chills/tears moments for me.

Lard almighty, that was beautiful.

Spoiler: show
Aside from the fact, even now, the Doctor and Rose can't be together. Like woah. That look Tennant gave when Hurt was all 'The Bad Wolf told me.' killed me. Absolutely destroyed me.

And Moffat pulling out the 'I don't want to go!' just to toy with Tennant fans! Bah!

One of the funnier parts was

eleven: Geronimo!
ten: Allons-y!
hurt: Oh, for God's sake!

I'm now even more excited for the Christmas special.

Yeah I heard about all the Eccleston drama before, I wasn't expecting him to show up...but still!

Side note, did I miss something with Clara? There seems to be a big gap between the end of the last episode and the beginning of this one re her story!

I felt there was a lot missed about the Clara storyline as well.

I just watched this and loved it. It's made me want to watch the classic Doctor Who, which is saying a lot because it caused a lot of strife in my youth (my dad always insisted on watching DW when the rest of us wanted to watch SNL). I also liked the docudrama they made about the origins of the series (An Adventure in Time and Space).

I kinda wish they'd do some webisodes or something with Paul McGann so we can have a bit more of the 8th Doctor (and also because Paul McGann is awesome).

Yay!!! I was missing Peter Davison so much in that episode. He's my favorite and I want to hug him all the time.

truth be told I fell in love with him in The Last Detective, but I've since watched some of his old Who eps and loved those. Eppy's Dungeon Master bought a signed picture to me from Peter Davison last year at Gen Con. eep.

I watched my first Doctor Who ep tonight since watching it on the sci-fi channel 20 years ago. I was advised to start with the Eccleston series, so we watched the first two episodes. I have to ask, though, is it really this campy? The episodes seemed crazy campy for 2005.

Sylvester McCoy is the bestest doctor ever. That works well because Ace is better than any of the new companions.

Do you think Karen and Mat swapped wigs for a wee laugh when they were filming? That's mostly what I'm wondering right now. I bet they did.

Yep.

That was a quick regeneration. I don't remember the other ones being like that - *pop* *new face*.

I loved the whole thing so much. I definitely wasn't expecting the regeneration to happen like that, but it was a good surprise. I think I actually behaved like a 14 year old for most of the last 10 minutes.

Yes, Karen's hair - and what a horrible wig! But I also loved, loved, loved it all. I watched The Day of the Doctors for the 3rd time, and watched the Goodbye twice last night. I'll probably watch it again On Demand if it's up yet.

Yeah, I though that maybe it was because
Spoiler: show
of the fact that he was basically dying of old age, so there wasn't general hurt damage that needed to be repaired like some other regens? Or maybe something to do with the weird "through the cracks" general Time Lard energy. I suspect that that will allow us to not worry about # of Doctors too.

Re regeneration
Spoiler: show
I think the doctor said he had a total reboot, so a full set of new lives.
