Kind of a huge dork for board/card games. Some of my favorites:

Settlers of Catan (it's so cut-throat! oh, the heated arguments that the best of friends get into during this game)
Bang! (really fun Spaghetti-Western themed card game)
and, I've gotta say, I love me some classic Trivial Pursuit

I grew up playing euchre and it's the only card game I'm any good at (plus it makes me nostalgic). But I don't know many people outside my family who play.

Cranium was super fun the few times I've played. I am so good at that thing with the clay! Apples To Apples and The Game of Things can both be awesome with the right group (and really dull with the wrong one). I'm a sucker for Pictionary, too.

My friends and I always loved playing taboo, scattegories, monopoly, phase 10, and uno. I am also a fan of sequence, trivial pursuit pop culture, clue, and bezzerwizzer.

ah, scattegories! that one's fun too, I've been thinking it'd be a neat game to introduce to people learning english (I might be in the biz of teaching that this year if things go well).

I really like Pandemic, Power Grid, Touch of Evil, Scattergories, Apples to Apples, Scrabble, Uno, Battleship I can't think of anymore names right now!

Oh, and we just got our friend a copy of Letters from Whitechapel, which is about chasing Jack the Ripper around London before he kills again.

Yeah, Scattergories is really fun. It makes a great customizable game for baby showers and that sort of thing, too!

We play Cettlers of Seitan. It has hemp as a resource instead of wool.

Apples to Apples now! When I was in high school I spent a LOT of time playing Hearts. And Spades. I have a lot of nostalgia wrapped up in those ones.

Spades. I'm so sad because I never can find anyone who wants to play. I hope someone at VVC will want to play.
Scrabble- I suck, but am getting better.

Risk/Monopoly for board games

For card games, it would have to be Killer Bunnies, but my wife and I are big introverts and the game really isn't any fun if you don't have a group of 4 or more.

Pandemic!
Bezzerwizzer
Taboo

Magic the Gathering

We have a new one that's mafia themed called Cargo Noir that's pretty cool. The worst is counting up all your merchandise. Takes a bit of math.

Arkham Horror looks awesome, that might be my next one.

oh, how could I forget my new favorite game Through the Desert! it's so fun and the little camel pieces look like candy. I also really like Chez Geek and Carcassone. I actually like playing carcassone on the xbox more than the board game.
Defenders of the Realm is fun, but impossible to win!
I just relearned how to play the card game Casino. It's really fun!
