Finally got to catch up on this week's episode. Poor Barney :( If they don't end up married, I'll be devastated.

I'd grown kind of tired of this show and hadn't been watching it regularly anymore, but that time lapse sequence of Ted and Marshall was hilarious. I actually cracked up when I saw the "creepy guy with the guitar" that died was just a cardboard cut-out that got knocked over. Too funny.

We were laughing so hard we were choking a little bit. And at my house, we use the word sandwich to filter.

He really deserved the Emmy for this show. I like to think that the one he won for Glee was really for this. (Kind of like how I like to think Melissa McCarthy's Emmy was for Gilmore Girls.)

Ha! I can't believe I forgot about the time sequence! That was pretty great. I'm with ya, Gwen. I don't know how I'll function if Robin and Barney aren't the ones together in the end.

And it's so horrible that Robin was the one all into being back with Barney so far this season, then lets him down in the end:(

So the fact they aren't together yet makes it seem more likely they will end up together. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

I loved it! Though, I think what Robin did made total sense and I really like Kevin. Kevin's answer to her question was way better than Barney's (who really wants to be with someone who tells you that you're just as messed up as that person?).

But coming as someone who might be a little bit messed up sometimes, it's a lot less pressure to be with someone who gets you than someone who has this idea in their head about how amazing you are. It can be a lot to live up to. It's the whole Scarlett and Ashley thing from Gone With the Wind - you make this other person out to be everything and then since no one can possibly fulfill that, there will eventually come a time when they disappoint you. Kevin's answer was amazing and romantic and all those wonderful things that make you want to swoon, but Barney said (in his little Barney way) that he understands her and he won't ever ask more from her than it's in her to give. I think that's the kind of relationship that can last- where you can just be with each other without these impossible expectations to live up to and the inevitable fall out from when you can't.
For what it's worth though, I love Kal Penn and everything about him. I just think as a character, Robin is so much better off with Barney.

I readily admit I am not a traditionalist when it comes to romance...at all. I agree with the above assessment of the situation. Basically, I felt like Kevin's answer was bullshiitake. The fact that he didn't want to know what Robin had to say screams of desperation to me. I, honestly, do not think I could be with somebody who did the adult version of sticking fingers in their ears while singing "lalalalala." Kevin so wants to be with Robin that he doesn't even care to know what obviously bad news she has for him. That just indicates to me how little respect he has for himself. I don't see relationships like that lasting super long.

I can definitely see cases where it's better not to tell your spouse/significant other about cheating. But not in such a short term relationship.

I may just change one of my kids name to hurricane. Hurricane Stormageddon... Yep... heading to the courthouse now.

I just noticed that Ted's future daughter (listening to the story) looks just like the woman who plays Alex on Nikita...I bet it's her!
Just think if Wolf Blitzer had a kid named Hurricane...Hurricane Blitzer!
