I'm most upset about throwing out years of character development.

I haven't seen it - we've been watching GoT so I can be caught up for when the series comes back on Sunday.

I purposely spoiled myself to decide if I wanted to bother or not and I can't decide. I mean, it's a crapfest, it hasn't been that good for a few years, and I'd like the closure. I've been told to watch through the umbrella scene and stop, but if I start I'm not sure I can stop.

It does make sense that he's telling the kids about their mom because she's dead, but it definitely makes it seem like you guys said, like he just figured he'd kill time with someone and bust out some kids before it was his and Robin's time. I mean, I get it, Ted loves Robin. Fine. But for years, every time they hinted at T&R again, hubs and I would curse at the TV.

Why do all of the TV shows have to slap their viewers in the face during series finales?

At least Psych's finale was nice, pretty upbeat and positive with everyone happy and smiling at the end.

IT WAS SO GOOD. I cried 3 times. I should probably find the Psych thread.

There will be an alternate ending on the DVD. After the first slap-in-the-face finale I refuse to give them any money no matter how much I want a different ending.

I'll probably buy it. I own all the other seasons, and I only watched about half of this one. I can't have an incomplete DVD set!

Have you guys heard about the spinoff? I doubt I'll watch it. They didn't exactly create good faith among viewers with the HIMYM finale.

I heard about it but after reading the link you posted and seeing that Krysta Rodriguez will no longer be a part of the show I def won't be watching. I might watch the pilot, but I don't trust them at all. I'll either love it and then get sucked into another 8 years of disappointment, I'll hate it and everyone else will love it and then I'll feel like I'm missing something, or we will all love it but the bad ratings will leave it being cancelled and I'll be upset. Either way I spin it in my head it's coming out as a let down. So I think I'm done with the How I Met... shows.

Finally got to see the finale last weekend. It was a bit meh. I actually wasn't that sad because I was half expecting that kind of an ending. It made most sense with all the story telling.

Definitely peeved off at the himyd possibility because I have been using himyf name for my life. So funk them. They are totally robbing my idea.

Okay, so I got the DVDs and watched the alternate ending. SO MUCH BETTER. Basically, the mother is still alive and Ted says something about how great it is to wake up next to her every morning, and does a summary of the steps leading to him meeting her. No dead mom, no Ted & Robin. Simple, satisfying, how it should have happened. The aired ending should have been the alternate. I still think that one is total shiitake.

Season 9 is up on Netflix. Brian keeps taunting me about it. Should I watch it?

I couldn't deal with two days of actual plot strewn over a full tv season, but it's not bad taken in a binge watch.
