Podcasts and live streaming BBC are how I spend my time at work, but I am catching up on all my podcasts and sometimes I don't want to listen to classic British comedy around the 2pm EST hour, so what are ones you recommend?

I currently listen to:

*The British History Podcast
*Spilled Milk
*Thrilling Adventure Hour
*Our Hen House
*Kitchen Cabinet
*The Vegan Option
...and I also have the BBC Listener app on my iPad so I have any specialty programs by them pretty well-covered.

My passions: Anglophilia, food history, history in general, vegan politics/discussion (already all caught up with the Vegan Porncast, some of Vegan Freak Radio--my iTunes has trouble downloading their stuff), travel, and if anyone out there can recommend an excellent French one--I'm an American living in Quebec so any exercise of the language I am still learning is a double bonus--I would love that too!

(Via my husband I already occasionally listen to Comedy Bang Bang, MATES, and what the fizzle, thanks.)

I await your genius!

I didn't want to start a thread like this in case there was one. So I found this. Sad to see no replies, but it's old and I'll have a go anyways.

I'm woefully behind on the podcast thing, as in, I started listening to nightvale earlier this year. I lost my place, but want to pick it back up. And I've just caught on to Serial, also, which I am thoroughly enjoying.

So, what MUST I be listening to? I'm really interested in the true crime inspection type thing in Serial, but I'm open to trying other things.

Also, what are you listening to? I know some people listen to really specialized podcasts that don't have broad appeal that you might not recommend to everyone, but I'm curious as to what's out there.

This whole thing is really new to me so I'm at a loss as to how to find new things.

Throwing Shade! Always and forever. Also, Stuff Mom Never Told You and Pop My Culture. And most of Radio 4's stuff. I mean, none of that is anything Serial-esque, they're just funny and interesting and awesome.

Stuff You Missed in History Class is really, really good. I don't listen to every single episode ever, but they cover a huge number of topics and also cover a lot of true crime if you're looking to get your fix after Serial. I'll admit to being a bit morbid and listening mostly to their crime, disasters, war and shipwrecks episodes.

I've been enjoying Serial too and still have a few episodes left, but when I'm done I was going to check outCriminal and Sex, Death and Money.

If you are into comic books, I LOVE Three Chicks Review Comics. Even when I don't agree with their reviews, they make really good points and have fantastic interviews.

Thanks for the input, folks! I've checked out Throwing Shade (love it) and Stuff You Missed in History Class which is pretty interesting. Looking forward to trying out the rest.

I just started listening to this-- it's pretty great! I like that it's short enough to listen to on my fairly short drives around town, and the topics are pretty interesting.

Plus I love this shirt:

My favourites are:
- The Moth (true stories told live without notes - they will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between)
- This American Life
- Radiolab (science-y TAL accessible by everyone)
- Serial
- America's Test Kitchen (not even close to vegan but I like their tips and recommendations)
- The Splendid Table (see ATK comments)
- Spilled Milk
- Stuff you Missed in History Class
- Earth Eats (local food + sustainable ag)
- Earth Beat (no longer producing, kind of an environmental TAL with fun stories around the world. All 300ish episodes are still available to download though)
- Ted Radio Hour
- Planet Money (money/finance stuff usually bores me but this is great)

I listen to This American Life, Serial, WireTap, The Moth, Cracked, Porchlight, Selected Shorts, Quirks & Quarks and Spark. Most of them are storytelling, WireTap is what i think of as existential comedy, Cracked is comedy, and the last two are science/tech.

I listen to a lot of podcasts. This is what my Stitchr queue looks like (minus the obvious like TAL, The Moth, Radiolab):

-Throwing Shade
-Stuff Mom Never Told You
-Criminal - short pieces about crime and different aspects of crime. You would probably like this if you like Serial.
-Invisibilia - New podcast from NPR about psychology
-Call Your Girlfriend
-99% Invisible
-Judge John Hodgeman - John Hodgman helps people settle disputes in a mock daytime tv courtroom style.
-Oh No! Ross and Carrie - Funny undercover investigations into cults and fringe science. Some are relatively short one day things and some are more long term investigations.
-Welcome to Nightvale
-Savage Lovecast
-Startup - this follows the journey of one guy as he starts his own business. If you liked the way that Serial focused on just one story you might like this.
-Planet Money
-Freakanomics Radio
-I listen to a lot of the Slate podcasts, including the Culture Gabfest, XX Gabfest, Political Gabfest, and Amicus (another good one if you like Serial)
-NPR pop culture happy hour
-Reply All
-Anything from the How Stuff Works Network (Stuff Mom Never Told You, Stuff You Missed In History Class, Stuff You Should Know)
-Sawbones
-The Broad Experience (about women in business, but the information and topics are great even if you're not a career woman)

I'm missing some, so I'll add them when I remember!

Comedy Bang Bang
How Did This Get Made?
Savage Lovecast
The Bugle
The Daily Show Without Jon Stewart
The Dana Gould Hour
