It's First Listen Friday. Normally I don't bring these things over, but I thought RandiJM might appreciate BSG and JG's* duet a little early.

I recently got sucked into Glee and I'm loving it! I'm still catching up and I just started on the second season, but I don't care about spoilers so I read this thread with no shame.

I have a question though, which I hope is not offensive to anyone and if it is please forgive me, it's born out of pure ignorance and no malignancy: in the episode "Duets" (4th of the second season), Rachel and Finn sing an awful song on purpose to lose the competition. The song is something like "I'm born again" and they dress up churc-y and act as if they are praying. Everyone is horrified not only because the song sucks, but also because it's rude and offensive.
Why?? I understand that the song sucks, but why is it rude and offensive?

I don't remember it too clearly, but I think that since they are not very religious (ahem* Rachel's ever-shifting religion at Christmastime) it was obvious to the others that they were mocking people who are that religious (believing in being born again, the garb, etc). Even if it wasn't intentional mocking, they put on those personas as an act, and so it showed that they thought of it as something not worth respecting, or at the very least as nothing more than a silly costume.

I finally got to watch Michael and can't wait for this weeks episode to go up. Ricky Martin has always been my guilty pleasure. Stupid 8 day delay.

If you get hulu plus, it is available next day. Not sure you want to pay the 7.99 per month for that, but it is an option.

You Should Let Me Love You is such a great song for Artie. And the Michael Buble is a great song for Rory.

Ok, I am digging all the musical numbers in this episode. I haven't said that in a while.

Oh wow, what a timely song choice for Mercedes. She's gonna knock it out of the park, too.

I'm just annoyed that an episode called "Heart" didn't have anything by Heart. It's almost as bad as the "Bad Reputation" episode not having the song "Bad Reputation".

I love Rachel's dads - only good thing about her. They should just replace her with them.

I thought Kurt did a great job with his part in Love Shack though Blaine was missing a little something.

Also, I thought Mike wasn't supposed to be able to sing. He could sing to me any time.
