I've just started watching the first series and I'm gripped! Has anyone else been watching this series? I'm trying to get through the first 8 episodes before the next set of 8 start in April.

I bought the first 8 on iTunes and have watched through twice. I'm gonna have to break down and get Starz so that I don't have to wait to watch the next 8. The books have been my guilty pleasure for years. I always thought Jamie would be the hard one to cast but Sam Heugan is awfully charming. It's Claire that I am still not sold on. I LOVE Graham McTavish as Dougal, though... so much better than I ever pictured him.

I'm not a fan of Jamie. Graham McTavish on the other hand? He's fantastic. Claire's ok. She seems...I don't know...not strong enough? It's a mixed bag for me.

I think I set my expectations really low for Jamie because he was going to be so hard to cast. The best way I can describe my feelings about Claire is that she's not... substantial... enough? I don't know, I'm still hoping she'll grow on me.

Ugh Jaime is so lovely. Also kilts. I felt iffy about Claire, because I'm always picky about lead roles. I liked that they picked an actress I'd never seen before since that always makes it feel more like the character to me. It's been a while since I watched it, but I think she sort of won me over. She comes off as the more subdued strong type rather than in-your-face. I don't like how we were left at the end of season one, but I just love the show.

I need to get back into the books. I've only read the first and it was an instant favorite. I was only hesitant after hearing the author saying each of her books has very different distinct themes and I was worried the rest of the series would be too different. Any one have any thoughts on that?

Too different? Nah. I think it's fairly safe to say that if you liked the first one, then you'll probably like the rest. "Fiery Cross" was a little annoying as she spent more than 150 pages on one day, and there are definitely parts of the series that I could do without. Aside from that, I'd still say give it a try.

Agreed on all counts. At least try the second if you loved the first.

I've just finished the first 8 episodes and definitely totally hooked.

I'm definitely voting for Team Jamie though. Not really a fan of Frank.
