holy crepe. You did the Sunday in 22 minutes? That is amazing. I am working on the Merle Reagle Sunday right now. It is weird.

I suck at crosswords, can I log one for my friend?
NYT 1/21/11: 10 minutes, in pen. I sat there and watched her do it with my jaw hanging open in awe.

(They're bigger than the weekdays, but I dont think they're harder.) You're right, they're more like a mid-week puzzle. And sometimes, if they have a really easy theme, they can be as easy as an early week puzzle. They're my favorite, though, because I love having a long leisurely puzzle to do. It's like taking a bubble bath, but for your brain.

I usually do the crosswords with friends (cooperatively, not competitively) so I don't think I am eligible to play this game.

I have a sort of related story that doesn't go anywhere but this thread. Eppy's Dungeon Master's company sponsored a crossword puzzle tournament last weekend and he went to it to just be there as a sponsor, I guess and sell some tote bags. He brought home some really nice pencils and apparently a lot of crossword people are weird! I think the fastest was something like 4 minutes?

4 minutes for a big Sunday puzzle? I don't think I could even scribble in all the answers in 4 minutes.

I don't know how big the puzzles in the competition were. they might not have been sunday puzzle sized.

My mom and I have been doing the puzzles daily since she got her iPad. Well, Thursday-Sunday, since the early week puzzles only take me 4-6 minutes.
The Sunday puzzle takes about an hour when we argue over all the clues, but lots of fun. We could both probably finish alone in half the time.
Nice to see you keeping the thread going FF!

This thread makes me feel so inept at crosswords. I suppose that being the best crossword puzzler among my friends makes me feel a little bit better.
My friend and I started the Sunday NYT and did not like it very much. I was a fan of the Merle Reagle this week though.
