Also, when I was in Toronto in July I dragged the boyfriend and several of our friends to the Ontario Science Centre to see the Harry Potter exhibit. They had costumes and props from the movies and it was GLORIOUS. AND AND AND there was this bit before they let you in where a fake-British wizard guy sorts three volunteers, who I think are supposed to be kids. But I made such a scene leaping around and demanding to be picked and generally playing up my foreign-ness that he finally chose me and I got to wear the Sorting Hat. I'm an official Ravenclaw! Yesss! AV and i went to that last summer and I got officially sorted into Slytherin!

I grew up in the middle of Mickey Mouse Land/NASA's Space Shuttle World in Central Florida. Our windows literally shook whenever there was a launch. Anyhow, I met my husband there too. So whenever we go to visit the in-laws we always go to at least two theme parks because someone knows someone who works there and can get us in for free. This past time, we went to Universal and saw them building the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
It was AMAZING. There was the castle and Hogsmeade and so much stuff we got to peek at, I almost lost my shittake. Too bad it wasn't open then, but I can't wait to visit again because we are for sure checking this out!

Okay, I haven't posted in this thread, and that's wrong, because I love HP so so much. I have been planning to get a babysitter so I can see this when it comes out but I finally had a realization.
Movies in theaters give me migraines. Sigh.

I always take my mom to see the Harry Potter movies for her birthday (they're usually released in July) since we're both Harry Potter geeks. There's no occasion this time, but we'll be there for sure.

I have a tendency of believing everything that's inexplicable is the work of wizards. Did you hear about that woman who solved the puzzle on Wheel of Fortune with just one letter? When I heard about it, I felt like there was something magical behind it.

So I insist on NOT watching any trailers or reading any articles about Harry Potter prior to it coming out in the theaters. I prefer to go into it without any expectations [besides of course the book that it's based on]. I find it really amps up the anticipation! We don't go to the theaters unless it's a movie we feel is worth spending the ridiculously high cost to see it.
Am I alone in this?

Am I alone in this? I keep going back and forth... wanting to know what it's going to be like, where it ends, etc, and then NOT wanting to know anything about it so I can be more excited and surprised... ack! Whereas when the book came out, I banished myself from the internet until I read the whole thing so I couldn't accidentally stumble upon any spoilers. I'm also going at midnight, with a group of friends! I still need to decide tasty treat to make and what to wear, ack!!

I was going to take off work to go at midnight, but I don't have any friends that would go with me, so I'll just go after work on friday. It's no fun if you can't discuss it with anyone Louzilla wrote: organarchy wrote: So I insist on NOT watching any trailers or reading any articles about Harry Potter prior to it coming out in the theaters. But since I already know what's supposed to happen, I don't mind as much. Actually, I probably wouldn't be as mad if I knew of some of the changes beforehand. For example, I read that the actor that plays Crabbe couldn't be in it, so they gave his plot points to Goyle. I'd rather know that now than sit there at the theater expecting Crabbe and being mad that he doesn't show up.

Can't believe it comes out in less than a week. It totally crept up on me. I bought my tickets for the midnight showing this afternoon. I'm gonna try to read the book this week. I will probably cry like a little baby from open to close. I just know it.

We promised to take the kids at midnite on Thurs even though they have school on Fri and I have to work but I just tried to get tickets at two theaters and both were sold out for midnite. We'll go Friday afternoon instead which is probably better for everyone.

A bunch of us are ditching work and school on the 22nd (Monday). We will be behind the curve, but we are making an event out of it so it will be a blast. And today, because my youngest is still recovering from surgery, we are having a Potter-athon.
