Man, I am starting to regret reading the books, because everything that happens makes me upset! I think it might be harder to watch the show after knowing which characters are only pretending to be trustworthy and what's going to happen to the ones I like.

July 12th cannot come fast enough. I've already reread the first four books! I don't have HBO and cannot wait for the DVD's to be available on Netflix!

Also, I wouldn't call Loras and Renly's relationship a "friendship" exactly.

Also, I'm a little less than half way through the second book and want to talk about it but don't want to look in the book thread. Waaah!

I used spoiler tags with some of my book 2 & 3 comments but there's posts in there about future stuff which may or may not happen as well. You could scroll to the bottom of the thread without reading and post your thoughts or Goodreads - are you on there?

I started the book and I think I'm about a 1/3 through. I agree, I'm finding the character names much easier to follow, but that's probably also because I've already seen the show on top of it. It is a pretty easy read, diggin it.

I watched the whole first season in under two days. Now I feel like I need to get all the books.

I have a confession to make. I have had Episodes 9 and 10 sitting on the PS3 for weeks because I knew what was coming and I couldn't bring myself to watch. We finally watched them tonight and it was traumatizing, but now it's over. Sigh. I do feel a bit short changed on the battles. I mean, I know they had a small budget and couldn't really muster an army of extras, but they made poor Tyrion look like a dope who got smashed in the face and missed the whole battle. He totally fought in the battle and did rather well! Humph.

I hope they don't short-change for season 2 especially for that uh, one thing toward the end.

guys, I'm so mad - my DVR missed Episode 9 somehow! we've been watching one episode a week (it's our Sunday afternoon treat while our toddler naps) and I thought we were ready to watch the final one, but the whole "Previously on" intro made it plain we'd missed some real important stuff. HBO better re-show that episode, I bet there's somewhere to watch it online but we're not really set up for that!

fetalexplosion wrote: Man - I thought this was awesome, though perhaps hard to follow all the characters - I felt like I needed a family tree in front of me. I had that feeling reading the books. I love this series, but for some reason it's not something I've ever been able to re-read, and that means I lose a lot of it. It's so complex that you really have to go through it more than once to catch all of the nuances and ins and outs of plot, and I just can't for some reason. Maybe because it's so gloomy, brutal, and ugly. I haven't checked out the miniseries. Maybe I should do that. Some people here seem to be panning it, but the overall consensus is that it's not bad. My favorite character from the books is Danerys Targaryen, which is different from most people's it seems. So I'm really looking forward to the last book, since she's bound to come into it a lot.

I didn't realize that Cersei played Sarah Connor in that shitty tv show. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0851851/

My boyfriend was there! I'm so jealous. He got a bag with the first GOT book, a House Lannister t-shirt and a mouse pad. At least I got to snap this picture, hehe:
