OK, I'm 7 episodes deep now. Aside from dead girl found in a body of water in oregon, and the music, which is pretty similar to the serious/sad music in TP...I was resisting thinking it was all too similar then the plot elements started popping up that reminded me of TP, like how everyone has a secret/about her, then they found a video she made and they see someone in a reflection of the mirror of the bicycle in it -- and that part seemed so lifted that I thought to my self, eh, when are they going to find her Diary, then they find her secret notes she wrote detailing her secret relationship/communication.

But yeah, it's also not funny, or "Lynchy" and there's no supernatural elements, and its shot totally differently.

I like the show a lot so far although I find myself fast-forwarding through the family/mourning parts.

and the girl was secretly a prostitute at the shady casino.

Bill Simmons wrote a good article on the finale (its a spoiler).

mod note: if something has already aired, it's not a spoiler.

Nobody up until my posts spoiled any parts of the show (which just ended) and I wouldn't have written what I did without using the spoiler hides. I'd feel shitty if I ruined the show for people, maybe a mod can delete my posts here, or just put them back in quote hides -- I really doubt I'm the only person that isn't/wasn't familiar with the PPK's goofy spoiler rules.

well, it is a sticky topic that says in caps: PLEASE READ. so, sorry if you missed it, but it's there.

if someone doesn't want to read about a show that has already aired, they can stay out of threads.

those are the rules. and they're not "goofy" rules. they make perfect sense. don't tag things as spoilers that aren't spoilers. it's not that difficult.

I called the rules goofy because I can't think of many examples of using the spoiler tag under PPK rules -- don't see how I'd know what happens in a future episode of show that hasn't aired yet.

Oh, you'd be surprised. Haha. Welcome to the Living Room...the entire reason those rules exist.

The finale for me was sorta boring except the last five minutes. But I thought Holder had something to do with it from the beginning. Maybe he didn't kill her, but I think he knows who did.

I was completely hoping they'd reveal who did it in the finale. I can get behind a VMars style seasonal arc, but moving this storyline too much further into the second season might just bore me.

If Holder knew who killed her but wasn't involved, why would he not "solve" the case in order to seem like a badass? Especially since he is new to homicide and his partner thinks he's a crepe detective. Making him a bad guy sucks.

*bump*

Does anyone know if this show is ever coming back? We saw that it was supposed to premiere Oct 16th on AMC, but then it never aired and I can't seem to find any info about it anywhere. We're dying here....:p

The Futon Critic says it will be back in 2012: http://thefutoncritic.com/guide/when-do ... come-back/

I pretty much spent my day off watching this show yesterday. I get what some of you are saying about parallels to twin peaks, I was thinking that as well. I am just glad I was not bombarded by donuts and pie in every episode as with tp. I am super bummed about Holder, but there was always something off about him so it makes sense. I read that they are not going to reveal Rosie's killer until the end of season 2, so that is also troublesome, but I will probably watch another season because I have to know. Also, I keep waiting for Belko to call someone wienerdog. New season on Sunday at 8 if anyone still cares.

I care. But now I'm pissed that they are going to drag this thing out. 1 season is seriously enough to know about a person's killer.

Yes, I'd rather we found out who the killer was and moved on to why she was killed, people covering it up, etc. But I guess that the writers decided we have to figure out all the other stuff first.

Boo. I wasn't really feeling Sunday's episodes. The show is moving too slow at this point.

Agreed, but I will probably keep watching it, only now when it comes on demand rather than as soon as it airs.

I'm late to this thread, but I thought that was a crepe review, especially the comments about Sarah's character. I think it's refreshing to see a female lead not wearing makeup or dressing to look sexy. If she looks like a lumberjack, she is one of the loveliest lumberjacks ever. Oh but I guess that makes her unfeminine by this guy's standards. How dare she not show off her boobs and wear her hair loose.

Anyway, I caught a few episodes on AMC but didn't get hooked until I watched all of season 1 on Netflix. I missed part of season 2, but will catch up on the earlier episodes if they come out on Netflix later. I really like the show! it's bleak, sometimes poignant and the storyline is engaging enough to keep me interested. I don't really see the comparison to Twin Peaks, other than both shows being set in the Pacific northwest. The Killing has a very different feel to it, at least to me.

I just can't believe how slow it is. If I weren't so hellbent on finally finding out what happened to Rosie and if Holder wasn't such a goofball, I probably wouldn't still be watching it.

I'm probably one of the only people not minding the pacing of this show. Maybe cause by Sunday night I can't handle speed? After last night's episode though I will laugh if the killer is the person I jokingly said it was in like ep 1 or 2 of Season 1 just cause the character irked me and no other reason. That might then make me reevaluate how I spend my time.

Did anyone else watch the final episode? So disappointing. It seemed very much like the writers had just stopped trying, and threw the script together at the last minute.

I was a little surprised that they would reveal the killer within the first fifteen minutes, so I knew there had to be a twist coming. I truly did not think it would end that way.
