All kidding aside, the results make me sick. Just knowing that unfocused anger, uninformed voters, and unwitting dupes can make this big a difference is sickening.
To the Tea Party, the Mama Grizzlies, the new no-nothings, the race-baiters and dog-whistlers, the obstructionists, the chickenhawks and closet cases, the liars, hypocrites, and thieves, the keyhole peepers, the bible-beaters, the grandstanders, the fact fudgers, the charlatans, the proudly provincial, the anti-intellectuals, the blue noses, the brown nosers, the brownshirts, and bullies: fork you all.

I drove back to my parents' home to vote because I haven't updated my registration, and I'm glad I didn't switch yet. Chandler, my district's incumbent and a Democrat, won by just 600 votes. Currently keeping an eye on California's Prop 19. If marijuana had been on the ballot in states other than Cali, do you think the Dems would've lost fewer seats?

I just want to cry and drink hard liquor right now......
This quote sums up this moment really well:

At least now we get to see (again) how full of shiitake these people are. We'll see what things look like in 2 years.

I keep trying to type something coherent, but it's not really working out. I just can't believe people really think everything will get better if they vote conservative.

Prop 19 is losing.
Worst election ever.
Except you know, that other one.

Other Canadians are taking about unhitching from North America and floating away. I'll try to put in a good word for you, but everyone seems really sad.

I live in Alabama and therefore am used to people voting conservative/Republican, but I'm beyond the point of normal frustration because of the unusually out-there positions taken by Republicans this year...positions that are absurd even for them. Even two years ago, your average Republican wasn't going around talking about repealing minimum wage and Second Amendment remedies and "making lemonade" if you become pregnant as a result of rape and how horrible the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is, and on and on. Now, this sort of batshit insanity has become mainstream, and it scares the hell out of me. But at least it looks like Sharron Angle has lost.

Except you know, that other one. There's plenty to worry about this election, but Prop 19 isn't worth bumming out over. It wouldn't really have changed all that much. Grayson, though. Ouch.

Ouch. eh, i'm just stream of conscious thought-ing. I don't have much invested interest in 19. Prop L is winning in SF though, so I'm just kind of ready to go to bed at this point.

I also had this dillusion that California would just get more awesome on every election and measure while the rest of the country went uber conservative, since I had already given up hope on everything else.

The county registrar site is down and the newspaper's site has measures mislabeled. Off to a good start!

Yes, that one is bumming me the hell out. God. SERIOUSLY, SF?

it will be interesting to see which neighborhoods voted which way. It lost in the upper haight...which is very telling.

Hopefully that number will keep falling below 50...
