Me too. I have plenty to say, but have said it on way too many threads and can't expend that level of energy on another internet fight right now.
Word. (For one thing, that coconut yogurt is too damn expensive!!)

Is that "lean" as in "thin" collection? There seems to be an absence of larger ladies.

Looking through the entire collection, there are a few larger ladies, though it does seem as if they focused more on having a variety of ages and ethnicities.

I'm loving the #gendercard hashtag on twitter in response to a reporter asking a female gubernatorial candidate if she planned to play the gender card in her campaign.

Astrid Lindgren (author of Pippi Longstocking) is going to be on Sweden's 20 Kroner note starting next October! Of course in the US we've never had women on our money (except for the much-maligned and impossible-to-find-or-use Sacajawea dollar and Betsey Ross 50 cent piece), but it's A-OK to have men who were slaveowners or engineered first nations genocides.

Not sure if this link is password protected or not, but it's a paper (found by accident!) from a law journal about the first domestic violence course taught at a law school in US history. http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/Papers.cfm? ... id=2416785

This needs to be on billboards. Even if a woman is actually pregnant (and you can't be too sure), who says that the woman isn't a surrogate and who says that the woman is happy about the pregnancy? Just shut up, people.

After ignoring me (and all other customers with cash in hand) for five minutes, a gross, slovenly bartender sneered at me and goes "what can I get you, darlin'?"

I replied "I'll have an Anchor Steam, dear."

He did not like that.

Neil Degrasse Tyson's response to why there aren't more women in science is just awesome. He comes up with this response right after someone suggested genetics. Posted this on the Cosmos thread but I think it should go here too.

Well one reason would be referring to them as 'chicks'. And yes, he is spot on.

I totally want to go to this standup gig, but ARGH, it's 6,000 miles away from me!

http://www.theguardian.com/stage/2014/j ... pants-down

Quote:
Adrienne Truscott, winner of the Panel prize at last year's Edinburgh comedy awards, plays a clever game by performing naked from the waist down... questioning the notion of women dressing in a way that "asks for it".

Truscott offers the audience a rape whistle – "if you don't like what I'm doing, you can blow this and hopefully I'll come to my senses and stop" – and projects clips of male rappers and comics doing rape-based material on to her pudenda. She has only recently moved from cabaret to standup, and her performance is an endearing blend of slapstick and non-threatening audience engagement that disguises a fierce attack on those male comics who joke about rape "ironically".

I have no idea if she's a great standup comic or not, I just love that someone is nervy enough to do this.

depending how much tickets are, i might be able to see it and report back. d'oh, it ended in May.

i wonder why it got three stars when the reviewer seemed to like it & didn't offer much criticism.

I would've liked this TED talk anyway, but I like it even more because a female hacker gave it: http://www.ted.com/talks/keren_elazari_ ... une_system

I came to post something about Neil Degrasse Tyson too! His cohost on his podcast called some guy 'ballsy', and Neil said that the non sexist way to say it was 'gonadsy' because both men and women have gonads. Go, Neil!
