Enough other people have admitted to it or failed tests that we know he was one doper among many. And, while I sort of believe him that he didn't specifically threaten teammates who wouldn't use, he's Lance Armstrong. The threat was implied. Someone waving a gun around doesn't have to say they're going to shoot you for them to be a threat. I mean, he admitted that he was a bully and his stature alone would have made it impossible for other cyclists to believe that they were welcome on his team without his complete approval. I just tend to believe him because in the grand scheme of all that he's admitting to, the things he denied were mostly insignificant (not effectively requiring other teammates to use, but the other things he denied.) What would be the point in lying about them now? There's no part of his reputation that is intact except as a supporter of cancer research, and really nothing left to lose (I mean, yeah, he's got a lot of money left to lose but that doesn't depend on the small denials... the big admissions sort of seal the deal.)

I was listening on NPR and they were talking about the impact of the revelations on Livestrong (he has now resigned from the board) and pending litigation against him. Its going to be interesting to see how this unfolds.

i havent been paying too much attention to this but i am curious why is he coming clean all of a sudden?

how much did Oprah pay him?

i heard a couple different people talking about this today in 2 seperate places and the gist seemed to be that "oh he wasnt the only one doing it, everyone was doing it and he was still the best"

and "well he was still really inspirational"

so it's ok?????

I don't know LisaPunk he is a pretty freaking big deal here in Austin and people seem PISSED! I really could care less about the doping. It's the being a lying sack of shiitake, throwing his friends under the bus, being a crasshole, and using more water than any other person in the state that makes me so mad.

I feel sorry for all the people that stuck by him as he swore again and again and again that he didn't do it. And I feel bad for all those people at Livestrong who have made such a positive impact.

What a forking crasshole to just lie to all those people.

If you read back through this thread you'll find the recent investigations and evidence and such. It isn't really all of a sudden at all.

it's far from sudden. and he's a PR champion - this admission to Oprah is completely calculated to attempt to salvage a professional athletic career (triathlons, specifically). pretty horrible.
