An author whose book was critical of the death penalty in Singapore has been jailed:

This is why I am deeply suspicious of all these places that look super glamorous and 'western' (another example is Dubai) but scratch the surface and they are hugely repressive.

And now because of the sentence thousands of people will learn about the impartiality of the death penalty in Singapore. Don't these people ever learn?

My brother lives in Singapore and I think it's like legoland, so manicured and controlled, it's creepy.
