I imagine everyone has seen these floating around the interwebs, especially with all the buzz about secession, but the White House has a decided to formally address any petitions that get over 25,000 signatures by Dec 7. I'm sure most of the statements are going to be along the lines of "We hear you!" and the wink and the gun. That's better than nothing? A lot of the petitions are poorly written boxes of crazy, but some of them are good. This one, for example, asks the govt to investigate and enforce the tax code against religious institutions with political agendas. It only needs 4,000 more sigs! https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petiti ... s/mCsW32NgI'm not sure if the best way to organize the ones forum members might be interested in is to just have a separate thread for each petition or to list them all in one thread, but I figure the mods can always edit this if it makes more sense the other way.

I'm surprised how many states are requesting to leave the union! (HA! And entertained by how many requests CA has!) I'm also surprised by how many have signed this petition: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petiti ... s/cpk4V6zK

This has to be the best response yet: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/secure-resources-and-funding-and-begin-construction-death-star-2016/wlfKzFkNQuote: The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn't on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:
The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it. The Administration does not support blowing up planets. Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?
