This is just super cool/weird; it's funny to look at the skull of a long-dead person and contemplate that it once encompassed the creative force of someone you feel you "know" across such a wide gulf of time. To paraphrase Hamlet:

This is gonna sound all sorts of convoluted and confused, but -

Weren't they gonna use this to DNA test the remains thought to be the little princes to verify that they were buried [wherever they're buried - near/in the tower? - I can't remember]? Or did they already do that? I seem to recall something about there being doubts that they were the ones buried there and that they might actually have escaped.

I was irrationally excited by this news! I've had my fingers crossed since they found the remains last year that it would be him. For those of you in the UK, there is a documentary about it tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.

I love the nerdesque minute by minute play by play in the link. If I ever drive again, I will never thoughtlessly park my car without wondering which historical figure's bones I might be trodding upon. Dancing over a grave. Driving over a grave. Pirouetting over a grave. Having sex on someone's resting place. The earth is too full of bones! The dead can't get any rest anymore!

Oh my god - that is hilarious (albeit in a grim, sad sort of way)!

I think it's fascinating. They could have kept out the "meh, so what" commentary. Do journalists not take pride in their work anymore?

Incredible ! I've been following this story too - so exciting that our present day techology and residents can help solve a mystery from 1485 that helps us better understand history.

Also some of the resulting jokes are pretty good:

I was all over twitter the day they released this story. I remember someone being like, "Who exactly are these Richard III revisionists?" I dunno, I always kinda liked him. TEAM PLANTAGENET.

I wish Richard would kfischer this thread. I would really like to hear his side of the story.
