I believe so.

Some punk bands are fascist skinheads. Some punk bands are bad. Some punk bands are animal activists. Some punk bands make me sad.

Sigh.

You know what? I could engage with a dedicated thread about Communism or whateverthefuck. I'd love to have a wee chat about Zhirinovsky and his nutty policies. Brezhnev? Gorbachev? Perestroika? Glasnost? Mao Zedong and all them shitty 5 year plans? Velvet Revolution? Gdansk? Solidarity? Bring it.

But I don't think you want to chat, jstrodel. I think you just want an argument. And that is pretty sad.

For the love of coconut milk ice cream and chocolate, no one mention that they are an atheist, liberal, have sex outside of marriage, or are LGBT.
I suspect our guest might cry.

I blame Yahweh, the volcano god of U-r.

We could discuss the myth of supersessionism or the antisemitism of the Patristic fathers.
Heck, in honor of the Pope resigning, we could chat about what the former head Inquisitor did to Liberation Theology. I think 'bang is right though; this fellow just wants to argue.

I was never really into the punk scene. What political persuasion does listening to Billy Joel and ELO lead one to?

Is this a politics forum for vegans to just pat each other on the back and tell each other how compassionate they are? Why do you have a politics forum if you don't want to debate?

I don't see what the issue is. I am not writing to peas anyone off, I am writing because I care. Is there any point to politics other than being accepted or something like that? Don't you care about the people who disagree with you?

Well, of course I mind that a lot of people disgree with me on a range of issues, from the environment to nuclear weapons to veganism to animal rights, but that's because collectively those people have the power to make the world a more violent and damaging place. On the other hand, when it comes to one individual who disagrees with me, I'm not so bothered. And when it comes down to the question of whether punk rock is secretly communist, I really couldn't give a flying fork.

Finally, you seem very concerned that we should all care about you and your political views very deeply. You should ask yourself, why you over all the other people on this planet? It just seems rather self-centred to me.

seriously. in order for us to start caring about you, you need to at least tell us your preference for cone vs. bowl, if you wipe back to front or front to back, whether you wad your TP or fold it, if you install it over or under, how many times you poop a day, and whether it sinks or floats.

Oh, jstrodel, you're perfectly entitled to give your opinion and have it heard, no matter how unpopular.

It's just that the other side of that coin is that we, having heard your opinion, are entitled to simply not give a flying fork.

Have a great day! :D

That's the part that I don't get. I don't even think he's positioning in a way to argue. He's just making all of these statements and then wanting people to care.

Then again, I'm on the record as 'not getting it.' Even if I did go back and read the posters.

I mean, it doesn't even need to be coke, it could be Coke too. I'll get my caffeine any way I can get it.
