When did the PPK become Scientology? Did I miss that? Does that mean we get to have those anti-cult activists who kidnap people and try counter-brainwashing?

Says Pete Seeger before the House Unamerican Activities Committee: MR. SEEGER: I decline to discuss, under compulsion, where I have sung, and who has sung my songs, and who else has sung with me, and the people I have known. I love my country very dearly, and I greatly resent this implication that some of the places that I have sung and some of the people that I have known, and some of my opinions, whether they are religious or philosophical, or I might be a vegetarian, make me any less of an American. I will tell you about my songs, but I am not interested in telling you who wrote them, and I will tell you about my songs, and I am not interested in who listened to them. http://www.peteseeger.net/HUAC.htm

interrobang you havn't made one argument I can see on the thread. Just a lot of mocking.
The forum description: The Parlor News & Politics: armchair anarchism and limousine liberalism
Anyone who denies the connection between Communism and anarchism and liberalism is either willfully deceived or brainwashed. The authoritarian left is a real factor in American politics, I am not saying it is the dominant factor in either movement, but it is a real factor.
One of the other posters correctly pointed out the historic connection between anarchism and Marxism. This is true, and important. I wonder if many anarchists in their heart of hearts really doubt the possibility of a stateless society and are closet communists. I think that many are like this. Consider Noam Chomsky, the anarchist who advocates for more stringent international law.

WHO ARE YOU? Why are you doing this here? Why do you think everyone here is an anarchist or communist?
In a similar vein, am I going insane?

In a similar vein, am I going insane? Invictus, it mentions anarchism right in the topic. I am here to tell my story, with a bone to pick, if you havn't noticed. If you are a compassionate person who cares about animals, why don't you care about me? Is there something underneath your lifestyle other than trendiness? Is there more to your politics than sectarianism? Why can't you listen to someone different from you? Punk rock and leftist politics have ruined my life. Do you care about anything that isn't trendy to care about?

The subtitle of this forum is lighthearted. Like much of the things here. It isn't intended as a political description of all the board members.
I'd care more about you if you made some attempt to introduce yourself to the community at large, rather than entering with a lecture.

What am I supposed to be arguing about?! It's 3am here, I live in Socialist land and I LIKE IT. +1 Communism. It's my favourite. Europe FOR THE WIN.
I've a boner for Chomsky, yes I have.

If you'd spent anytime at all on this board before this mess of a post, you'd realize I am possibility the least trendy person here.

I'd care more about you if you made some attempt to introduce yourself to the community at large, rather than entering with a lecture. Why? What if I have other things to do than try and make friends with you all? You all seem like cool enough people. I love vegan cooking. I used to have a $200 dollar juicer. Why do you have to only listen to things that follow a certain format? I am exactly what I seem like: a pissed off former leftist. Why does your compassion have to be reduced to certain acceptable social norms. It is almost like you are asking me to have more manners while I am describing to you that I just was raised from the dead. Are manners really the most important thing in the world?

When did Yancy Fry join us?
Seriously, telling us we have no compassion for you is not really a valid argument. You are blaming a political philosophy and a subculture/musical genre for your own misfortune. I can listen to you but stop the Neil from the Young Ones act about no one caring about you.
(That's another 80's reference.)

jstrodel wrote: Punk rock and leftist politics have ruined my life. Sorry to burst the delusion bubble, but the only thing that ruined your life in your story is you. Punk culture and leftism are really convenient things to place the blame on, but ultimately the only one who can control you is you. A paranoid delusion is the fixed, false belief that one is being harmed or persecuted by a particular person or group of people. Paranoid delusions are known technically as a “persecutory delusion.”Communism, leftism, punk rock...none of these things are out to get you. Or anyone. Now please, this really isn't any way to join a forum, it's disrespectful.
