I'm a little surprised no one is talking about this--an app for smart phones announced a few weeks ago that lets you join campaigns. When you scan a barcode, it reveals the parent company and tells you if it is a part of a campaign you are supporting or avoiding. For example avoiding soybeans treated with hexane, and there is a vegan/cruelty free one also.

Of course the campaigns are user-generated (and I believe maintained as well), so the quality of the research may vary. Still could be a helpful tool in the supermarket.

I read about it recently and though it was a cool idea, so I downloaded the app, but it's pretty buggy and frequently doesn't work. I'm hoping for updates now that it's getting lots of press!
